hey, this pic was an excellent entry. Yes, it requires a sense of humor and it is more like laughing at ourselves. It manages to target a lot of pretensions and it may first appear as a profane gesture, but I welcomed it because it reminds us that we are first into photography for the sheer fun of self satisfaction. To become sanctimonious and dismiss a gem like this nice composition, is to cheat ourselves and become lost in out seriousness. Anyway, good job, it presented a different and interesting angle. Now, for this image to have received 18 ones; boggles the mind. Did they at all consider how this shot was done? However, you finished at 5.6 which means that the grown ups got it.......... Into my favs.

Thanks Daniel, congrats on your first ribbon also, wish I could get one of those, don't see it happening anytime soon thanks to those people who just don't care for things that are far to different from the norm...oh and I don't think my photos are up to par yet either.

It is a cool photo, I gave you and 8 for it.. People need to laugh at themselves more often IMHO.

Cheers, Me.

just joining the bandwagon to say that *i* gave you an eight too! it wasn't a ten because i felt the colours weren't really deep or rich enough; though obviously this would have been more easily remedied if it weren't for the constraints of the basic editting rules. but i did think it's hilarious, and since seeing the shot i've being trying to maximise the use of the word "doodie" in everyday conversation (the wife will confirm this if asked, much to her chagrin). being a brit means i've been protected from such a wonderful, glorious expression.

again, i'm MORE than astounded that 18 people gave you one. perhaps a small level of evil fascist dictatorship might have cause to exist here; surely 90% of voters won't mind if the SC takes action to wipe out all the ones awarded from a shot that obviously doesn't deserve anything remotely close to a one. they're obviously heathens! (i am 94% kidding, of course).

again, this was a triffic shot, i especially appreciate the choice of an extra lumpy chocolate bar with pale bits in it. much approval is bestowed.

What a hoot. I'm one that gave a 10 and a comment.
07/29/2004 12:16:20 PM · #12
Awesome redmoon, I'm glad you have a new word in your vocabulary: and yes everyone who gave me a one or a two and maybe some of the threes are "obviously heathens!" And I am 0% kidding, not really...

Also thanks to you almighty Jacko for your 10 for my pic, I will hold it in the highest esteem.

Oh! is that what "doodie" means? Now you tell me! I just thought he dropped his candy bar. Anyhow, I thought this great pic was worth an 8.

As far as being funny, clever, well taken and a bunch of other things I'd give it a 10. However, overall I'd give it a 6.
You should submit it too collegehumor.com and get it posted.

My wife got a photo posted there once before, it takes them awhile sometimes to get to it. If I see it I'll let you know.

LMAO!! So now you know... When I was a wee tot, I didn't know what the word meant either but I got that it was unpleasant. So on occasion, when in the throws of a temper tantrum I'd run around the house yelling, "doodie, doodie, doooodie, DOODIE!" Pissed my mother off to no end!

You're showin your age, isn't the concept from the original "Caddyshack" movie?
07/30/2004 01:41:04 AM · #22
Yes Glen it is exactly from that movie, not taking any credit but for the composition of this photo.
07/30/2004 08:25:30 PM · #23
Thanks to all who thought it was decent and funny...hope I can keep it coming.
07/30/2004 09:35:43 PM · #24
I gave it a nine, not just because it was funny, but well shot, great focus, color and light. The drain added to the composition as well. I hope to see more of the same skill and creative mind work in the future.
