Well, I'm not really new. I have been taking picture for about 7 years. I just never worked up to buying a really good camera. I am looking at the nikon D-70 and the canon eos 10D. That is about all I can afford. I can take pretty good pictures, and i would just like to make enough money to pay for the camera. What I am saying is that, would it be worth it for me to purchase one of these camera's to use in wedding photogrphy, and advance to bigger and better things?

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Travis

Both cameras are good cameras. I use the 10D and love it! It really depends on what lenses you have, if any. If you do not have any lenses for either, I would recommend the 10D. Even though this is a bias opinion, I have used mine since the week they hit the shelf and have loved it. I would also say that this would be a good choice b/c of the canon lenses. I am not real sure on the Nikon lense lineup, but Canon's IS lenses are EXCELLENT!

My advice is to do a side by side comparison and see which one has the features that you want and then hit the Internet forums and see what everyone else is saying about the cameras. You will get both good and bad reviews from people on both cameras, but take them all in and see if any pros or cons seem to crop up more often.

Good luck!

Both are great and I think it´s more question of personal preference than quality. Go to the store and feel them in your hand.
I also want to point out the rebel (Canon-300D). It´s the same sensor as in the 10D but lacks some features (which can partly be restored bye a hacked but safe firmware). It´s a great camera for my experience (and others) but it´s up to you if you need much thouse extra features. In USA the price difference is ~$500 but for that money you can have some decent lenses and other accesories.

Your profile has Canon 10D?
You will have one or you do have one?
7 years taking photos is not new !
Doing wedding photography has nothing to do with doing GOOD photography, most of the wedding guys are bunch of amateurs..

Good luck
