Ok... I didn't know this existed, but ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', '/') + 1) . ' sinistral_leo posted it in another thread, and it really seemed like it should be a challenge suggestion...

Seeing that there is now a Wal-Mart in town, could be a helluva lot of fun!! Note too that that site also includes vehicles in the Wallyworld parking lot.

this is exactly my level. I would, however like about a month in which to shoot, since it would require me to cross the great water.

...which would be a 35-minute ferry to Vancouver Island, another 90 minutes more if you go to the Lower Mainland! :-)

Bring it on! For those without a Walmart, you could substitute your nearest redneck department store

or...for our Canadian members "people of Tim Horton's"

OMG I just went through 25 pages of Wal-Mart pix and had to stop. I feel like I need to rinse my retinas in Clorox or something.

People of Dunkin Donuts might be a good site.

I have no less than 5 Wal-Marts within a 20 minute driving distance. LOL!

We have 'em but I avoid 'em like the plague. I'd rather take my shot at Costco. Think anyone would notice?

Now I am truly depressed. THAT MANY walmarts in peepses' short radii? So OK, blitz em with exposure.

No Walmarts in the citycenter close to me and that's the way I like it. You'd have to drag me into one kicking and screaming...

I'm trying to be charitable here, and assume people don't really understand this...

The linked website is one of the most mean-spirited exercises I have ever encountered; it's devoted entirely to the anonymous publication of sneak, phone-cam pictures of obese, ugly, oddly-dressed, or otherwise (apparently) ridiculous-in-the-poster's-eyes specimens of humanity.

Some respondents in this thread seem to think the challenge is about making fun of Walmart (currently a national sport of sorts, and with good reason IMO), but actually the referenced site's about being mean to people who aren't "normal" or "beautiful" enough for you.

I'd be the first to acknowledge that probably ALL of us, at one time or another, have looked at another human and said "Ewwwwww...." but still, come ON. Do we really want our site sponsoring an organized challenge that encourages us to make fun of people who don't meet our personal aesthetic standards?

That's not what I was thinking at all at all. Honi soit qui mal y pense. But I suppose PEOPLE of walmart might imply that, and I didn't check out the link. I like shooting in these mega emporium set ups for the sheer meganese of it.

This is what I suspected. And I agree that a "Big Box Store" challenge could be a fun one, but I am adamantly against anything that encourages making fun of "weird people" the way the linked site does. I think that's just mean...

I suppose there is always that danger in any public shooting. We have constantly to draw the line between appreciation and mockery; misinterpretations are bound to occur. And we ourselves morph in terms of sensitivity and taste.
