I'm looking for a good web host to run the FSM and WPL side challenges on. I can't afford to spend a lot of money but want a host that is reliable, unlimited (if possible), and supports unlimited sub-domains.

I will continue hosting the FSM and WPL as I'm doing now but I want to build a site that is more user friendly than uploading excel to Google sites.

Suggestions please!

Thanks in advance,
Scott

Check out Lunarpages...I have been with them for years and can't see why they wouldn't have what you are looking for.

My wife builds web sites and has good luck placing clients without a big budget with bluehost. For a discount host they have very good service.

I had FatCow the past year and I was not happy with their uptime, despite their low price. It wasn't worth it to me so I am planning on switching at the end of the month.

I use //www.inmotionhosting.com. They are EXCELLENT. I choose their basic business package because it offers a lot of options the smaller packages don't. Their support is excellent. As with anything, there are issues, but they have always been resolved quickly and at all hours of the day and night.

They have data centers on the West and East coast so traffic is quite fast. The basic business package is still on a shared server but for the most part you wouldn't know it.

If you choose them, let me know so I can give you a reference # :)

ETA: The package I have has unlimited bandwidth and diskspace, but only 100 subdomains. I have the Power business. The Pro has unlimited subdomains. They also have ecommerce options.

I've used //www.webhostingpad.com/ for three years now, very good so far and very reasonable.

$1.00 dollar per month. Www.3ix.com for linux/apache/mysql/php hosting. Nice templates preinstalled.

I've been extremely satisfied with //www.justhost.com/

$5/month, unlimited storage, bandwidth, subdomains, mailboxes... etc. my uptime has been pretty consistent as well.

ETA::
the kicker: 100% money back satisfaction guarantee - can't beat that.

ETA(A) ((AGAIN):
I wasn't observant the first time, but there's a "secret link" in the footer that'll get you 20% off if you decide to go this route.

Thanks everyone. Keep posting, I'm checking everyone of them out. If you are using the host you post and get a credit if someone signs up by mentioning you or your account please post that as well. When I decide which host I'm going to signup with I would like for you to get credit if your host offers that.

I'm switching providers.

Bluehost for $3.95/m or justhost for $4.95 a month.

Does anybody else have either of these hosts that can comment on their service?

Can never say enough good things about www.hostgator.com. Have been with several hosts, and as long as these people don't change the way they do business, will never leave them.

I've been with 1&1 for a few years now. They may be pricey but I have around 15 different domains with them, Including hosting, email and an exchange server and have yet to have an issue

www.1and1.com

One think I like about Bluehost is that if you run wordpress or drupal (or the like, they support tons of back end CMSs) as your content manager, they load it up on their end. It saves time trying to integrate your front end with their back end. Using a decent CMS makes keeping your site updated easier. Even if you see no reason to update your site beyond adding images every few months, you might consider a blog type updater as a side widget, just to drive your site up the Google search list. Updating stuff through wordpress is painless and all changes made to your site make it more relevant to the search spiders.

+1 from me on lunarpages, they're great. And make sure you click Judi's link to get there.. ;-)

Also, I use //xtrahost.co.uk/ for my main web server, as I needed Windows VPS hosting, with support in my timezone.

=( I just had my first issue with one of their customer service representatives yesterday.

But that aside, they have otherwise always been excellent. I still recommend them.
