Actually, the voting has been odd on this one, but I think a lot of it is because lens flare isn't exactly a commonly liked phenomenon. I think there will be many people that simply don't like the flare or that the flare doesn't add anything to it.

I'll appreciate it more when voting, simply because it was difficult to do and even more difficult to do well. It will be fun voting on this. :)

Boy oh boy, am I glad I didn't enter in this one.
It wouldn't have been good for my self confidence.

Great work everyone

Comments will follow tomorrow.

Im glad some folks are enjoying the challenge. I'm having trouble enjoying it, I am not finding many images where the flare is adding to the image, and a whole lot where the flare is what it usually is, an annoying and distracting element that detracts from the image. There are some nice high key images, some great sunbursts, and some nice wash of light images, but very few where lens flare are an integral part of the image.

It's got a fav, and it's higher than my personal average!

I expected it to do better, but I should have known better. I asked my wife, "Why do people spend $25 a year to vote if they have such bad taste?" hahaha

Still hanging on to the mid-sixes! :-)

No comments. No favs. :(
Not surprising when viewing against some of the other images.

5.0 @55 votes. :-/

The biggest problem I think most of us had was not having a lens that had any kind of interesting flare. I tried 3 different lenses and nada.

Lad will be winning this round of the "Beat Your Avg" challenge as I'm not beating my avg at all.
Good luck with another Sun challenge for the next round Lad!

I kept an open mind during voting but I also made a distinct difference between real flares and other types. Also between flares which are actually present and others which are there but more difficult to find.

Please define "real flares."

Alas, I suspect that my flares are not real and furthemore that they may be there but not actually present.

For how many points is this question? :)

My definition of lens flares: several rings, circels or starbursts in a row across the image.
Also a haze that washes out the image and reduces contrast, coming from a bright light source which is shining on the lens but not in its field of view I consider a flare.

Is this answer satisfactory?
Looks like some people get nervous and fear low votes when someone else might have another idea of what a flare is to them.
I think the average given vote I gave should say it all. No image received a score lower than 6 - 2 exeptions with a 5 - which is not bad either I believe.

Sorry to see this and the fact you quote almost literaly my words gives me a feeling that you find my opinion somehow ridiculous. Or is it the way I expressed myself perhaps?
Some entries are more appealing than others but I didn't see any of which I thought that it deserved such a low score.
I do hope that the following days will bring a positive difference in your score.
