Day 7:

The busy stuff inside a daisy. The whole scene is about 3/8 in or 1cm across.
I will probably shoot this again tomorrow using my monopod for stability so that I can stop down for better DOF. This was in the garden at work today.

I don't have a lot of flowers in my garden right now so I hope you don't mind if I post a few very old images that I never edited.
Lots of commenting to catch up on!

I'm sorry for posting another butterfly on flower picture... but the thing is, I've been chasing butterflies around. I'm also behind on comments, I'll be catching up on them soon.

You need to cross your eyes to see these in 3D. Don't hurt yourself!

Day 8

I don't know where the time has gone and I haven't found time for any more flower shots yet, also very little time for commenting, but I will get round to it soon.

I did re-edit my Free Study floral shot which proved a real disappointment after a decent start (dropped from a start of 5.3 to a finish of 4.9).

Re-edit:

Entry:P

Personally I prefer the blown out highlights as I feel they draw more attention to the foreground, but seeing someone commented about harsh lighting, I thought I'd have another look at it.

I'm with you. I voted the 10. I enjoy the use of white in my comps (some call it "blown highlights") for the energy it creates. I have spent some time doing watercolor painting, where the use of white creates wonderful sunlight energy. I remember very well the first comment I got, years ago, for "blown highlights" & how misunderstood I felt. I recovered, though, & now use white whenever I like it. Some will not like it, but oh well. If this was mine & I was going to process it again, I would process the bug separately so that it did a better job of invading the scene with its bug energy. It's an interesting comp & a challenge to PP & I think you did a fine job as is. MHO.

Ginger front view. Raindrops pushed the top down.

Ginger, backlit. The plant is about 7 ft tall.
