I don't recall voting patterns this erratic before. Then again, I don't enter many challenges.

you will be for a little while now for DPL though right?? lol

That is crazy though to vary a whole point like that in such a short timeframe.

I am sorry. Dark days. Starting therapy next week. Thanks. Touched by messages of support. Sorry for upsetting everyone so.

I wouldn't let DPC down-hearten you into selling up... if people don't like what you have to say then 'screw them!' If I were you I'd renew my membership and continue to pass on your honest opinions to peoples work.. I would much rather receive a comment that explains why I was getting a 4, 3, or whatever than get no comment at all.

I say "good on ya mate".

I'm very surprised about this. I don't like my image much at all (it was a 4:45am edit and I didn't know better!)

Sigh... "We need proof that your submission is valid" - this is the 4th time I've had to do this (granted one of my submissions did use a vignette in basic editing) and I've only entered 10 challenges so far. Is it really this common for people to question the validity of entries or am I just unlucky?

Anyway:

I have to do the same. Only my second time. I failed the first, but this should pass.

Fred, I was going to make a lighthearted joke, but it sounds like you are really unhappy and angry and it would just make the situation worse. Can you guys just put aside the pissing contest and call it a miscommunication?

Oops, i thought i was in the Film Noir post there for a minute.

Seriously though Rorschach all i can say is "get a grip man" life is short enough as it is and the end will come fast enough believe me, try looking at everything as if your an actor on the stage instead of believing the role you are playing, stand back and see the beauty around you, its everywhere if you look, the blackness is also there and one depends on the other but you decide what to look upon.

cheer up and just have some fun here, we could all do without this bickering.

Encore!
I am really worried about Fred. I've met him a while ago and this is not what he is. Something is seriously wrong here.

... People change.. And you're absolutely right, something is seriously wrong - Fred has clearly gone a bit off the deep end, and soon he'll either seek the help he desperately needs, or he'll follow through on his threat to kill himself. Nothing any of us can do to change that - he tries to pass it off as everyone else's fault, constantly playing the victim role. Unfortunately I expect that we'll probably continue to be subjected to this sort of thing for a while, until he makes a decision to seek help or end it himself.

Fred, this is to you - seek help now, you've clearly lost your way, but you can find it again if you try, otherwise.... Well, that's not something anyone really wants for you. Drop the pride and realize that life may be the only thing you have, but... Life's pretty sweet sometimes man.

How did a score thread turn into a rant thread?
Can we please go back to just sharing scores here?
You can start a new thread in rants to continue the bickering if you wish.

I am quite surprised about this. But happy all the same. Even though I don't like it much :-)
Not too shoddy for a 4:45am entry time :-)

to the less vociferous dookieheads handing out dnmc's - abandoned is abandoned, damnits. I hope you all realize that if we REALLY followed the challenge description, appropriate photos would look like a fire drill.

08/09/2011 02:09:47 PM · #95
nah - abandoned means old, with optional (and preferred) conotations of rural, unused, unusable, unsalvageable, run down, preferably overgrown etc

You thought it meant abandoned, right?

Ranting's more fun than bean counting anyway.

ps Good luck, Fred.

Well, my score is relatively stable today .. (knocking wood like crazy) I am really pleased with the wonderful comments and thank you *Fred* for the great critique - I might re-edit and follow your advice :)

Fred, I certainly was not trying to antagonize you. I've just seen too many people get hurt by comments that *could* be construed as destructive. You've got some good work under your belt, and we've talked in the past with no issues.

I hope that you'll accept my apology for setting you off.....that was not my intent.

Well I don't think I've had so many low votes alongside so many decent votes in any challenge I've been in, a weird scoring challenge and I look forward to seeing the results.
08/09/2011 03:01:43 PM · #99
I decided to give the entries another look and upped my votes again .. and instant Karma ripening - I am now in the 6.3 range. If I start going down again, then I will have to leave comments galore as I upped my votes as far as I can to still have them meaningful.
