Well, from 6.0 to 4.33 in 6 votes...I looked through the shots and they aren't bad at all, so not sure why the load of low votes unless they are padding (or trying to) again. Oh, well...going to bed. Fingers crossed it stays over 3.0 while I sleep!!! :P

I don't expect much higher than a 5 for this submission... one 8 so far though, so that balances out the initial 2 I guess =).

First vote 5, which is looking to be as high as I am going to get. What a bunch of grumpy voters

Some terrible entries in this one. Looks like some people just shoot anything to fulfill the challenge theme. No artistic or photographic merit to their images at all.
Here are images of one of my favorite abandoned buldings of all time. A great favorite amongst "Urbex" photographers too. Château de Noisy in Belgium.

Also check out Marcel Fisscher's images. Click on URBEX to see some of the most wonderful images in this genre.

I think Tolstoy or maybe some other Russian is credited with the encouraging in literature 'the iron rule of economy'. He would have been pretty pleased with how 'take a picture of a very old building that has been abandoned and is now in such a state of disrepair that it is no longer, and presumably never again will be, usable'. Dpc got it straight of the bat without all that drivel.

Why don't you comments on all our images and tell us exactly what is wrong with them?

Just awful. *shrug* love the image anyway.

Just had a quick look-through, too early to vote yet. Sure, there's a shoehorn or two, but there's always some in any challenge. Frankly I don't see a vast amount of *terrible* entries.

I don't like this image too much. A very late night edit (4:45 it was done).
Very odd voting distribution, eh?

Wow. I know it's early, and it can go anywhere from here:

19 votes, 3.7895

Wow.

I guess I have a lesson or two to learn from this one. I hope somebody tells me why it's THAT bad.

Wow.

Thought this was a much stronger entry, but it's still early. Early voting has seemed especially harsh.

There are some very amazing shots in this challenge though..

I'm very surprised by the low votes being reported as I thought almost every image met the challenge quite well and many are excellent. And almost no one has a castle in their vicinity to photograph so I find those kinds of complaints/comparisons odd and uncalled for.

Hard to overcome the early votes. Overall, the images in this challenge are very good, even if a bit sobering... due to the condition of the structures. But, abandoned buildings do fall into disrepair, by definition.

Yeah a lot of sour voters this morning, the Monday morning blues i reckon.

Wow Rorshy - you must have an awesome entry then! You should be gloating instead of grousing :)
