In typical fashion my entry starts off at a 8.5 with 2 votes, levels off at 7.66 by 6 votes and then plummets to 5.6 by 25 votes. And of course no comments. Good to know nothing changes.

i'll never figure the voting patterns out. i was pretty low first 10 votes, and have been rising since (approching tiny violin territory). however, in other challenges i've started pretty high, then sunk like a stone.

i would think in general that the early voters could be the same cohort each time, but their voting seems to be unpredictable.

OR, its all challenge-dependent and there is no sense in trying to figure it out.

best to just wait till the 20, 50 and 100 vote mark to get a bead on where an image will end up.

Very happy with the score and the image; and I am absolutely confident of its quality.

I'm not in this challenge but have made a goal to vote 100% on all the challenges open for voting right now. 3 challenges down and this one left to do. I just viewed 100% and this might be a difficult one to vote.

There are some truly amazing shots in there. But there are a lot of shots that may only be pastel because of the processing alone. My highest scores will likely go to those who don't look to be desaturated in order to get pastel colors. I'm not saying I will down vote those that are desaturated because they do still meet the challenge however they won't get my highest scores.

Do not fret though because I've started a new voting method where my lowest score is a 5. (look at my voting average to see).

I also got 100% comments on one of the challenges this week and will try to comment as much as I can for this one too.

Went through entries again and voted on a few more. I bumped quite a few up after really looking and enjoying. Quite a few fabulous ones in the bunch.

Stats: You have rated 125 of 159 images (79%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.9680.

I just took a fast look through the entries and I do not see any that are not shot in pastel. I'm not sure what people are seeing as "not a pastel" entry.
Clearly, mine is considered not pastel enough. I googled "pastel" and in the images you can see a wide rainbow of colors, and from lights to darks,
they all share a soft and silky smooth quality, but I do not think pastel is confined to a high key form of lightness, but is a feeling of softness instead.
Swing and a miss for me this time, and I so love the shot. Was a fun day also.

Too soon to tell, but if it stays anywhere around this it's close to PB territory. WooHoo!

Many of the tones are quite vivid and not what I'd consider pastel. Hmmmmmmmmmm

Just to point out ... the challenge description reads

"Pastels are commonly defined as "a light, pale tint of color". Your challenge is to look at the world in a softer light this week, and show us what you've found."

I think this challenge is going to be one of those where different opinions about what a word means are going to become an issue. One person's pastel is another person's vivid hue and another persons faded nightmare. Even on this thread, there have been those who are certain there isn't a single pastel shot, and others who are positive everything was done right by most submitters. It comes down to personal opinion of course, but it is kind of amusing. Even if you check online that examples of "PASTEL" range over quite a spectrum, of which our current entries don't seem to violate too much out of the way--and if you check the first version of this contest on DPC, it is also heavily varied. This is one of the vagaries of our beloved site. Unless the SC starts posting examples of which things are/are not acceptable to the challenge these types of things will continue to cause frustration and fun for years to come. LOL.

Jealousy riseth within. I have yet to get a favorite during voting, NICE WORK!

My original entry was very "pastel." Changed to my favorite shot because a friend said "of course that is pastel." Some voters think it is, some voters think it isn't. Guess it is more fun to push the envelope, what ever that is.

Have many people got comments on their photos ?
I have a wonderful score better than I thought, but only 2 comments. Not that I'm complaining, just more curious !

Got a great comment from you, and three others. I gave out a lot of high scores in this challenge, but I haven't commented yet.
