I have a 24mm Sigma that I want to sell. It has a slight scratch on the front element and it hasn't affected any of the photography I've taken. I wonder, how much would this decrease the value of my lens if I put it up on ebay?

If you want to hear a wild guess, I'd say at least half of usual resell value. Only one way to know for sure though... good luck.

Ditto. Anything on eBay with a blemish of any kind loses a lot of the potential value, esp like in this case, a blemish in a critical part of the item. If you post to eBay, be sure to post some good pix you shoot with it just before the listing so people can see that it's working good.

It takes pictures just fine...

You might get a better price here at DPC if you offer it in the DPC Buy & Sell Forum. Check other places to see what they sell for and set a price. Maybe someone here will want it.

I don't have access to that part of the forum, that's a 'members' privilege >BOOOO<

I'll see what the web has going on...I wish I had more Canon friends.

Excellent suggestion by MelonMusketeer. You can always set an eBay reserve, too, if you don't want to let it go too cheap. I like the way the scratch disappears depending on the angle of the light. Make sure you describe this in your eBay listing.

You can also check out KEH to get a quote -- make sure you give them an accurate idea of the condition. But sell on eBay. I have always gotten a better price on eBay than by selling to KEH, though the hassle factor is higher preparing for a good eBay sale.

Despite the fact that this isn't the buy and sell forum, what would you be willing to take for it? And why are you selling?

I started the ebay auction at 325 plus shipping.

Selling it because I want to trade a prime for a zoom. Was working with almost all primes (15mm F2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye, 24mm F1.8 EX DG ASP Macro, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM) and my only zoom was my Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM. I needed something within the 16-35 or 24-70 range for a while. I just got permission to get a sub-1000 dollar lens from my wife and I'm looking at the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM or Tokina AT-X Pro FX 16-28mm f/2.8 For Canon...

Sigh... Damn. Well, if no-one bites on e-bay let me know, I'd be interested.
