went into town after work and picked up a 90-300USM lens for my camera. Though there wasn't a lot of light went up to the local bird recovery area and had a play. Looks like it's going to be a lot of fun!! Need a loads more practise but can see the potential. All pics hand held as haven't got the tripod yet.

Any comments, tips and help very welcome, very different using a longer lens......was just beginning to get more comfortable with the camera.

Difficult to choose lens's up here as none of the shops stock any......this one was part of a kit they split so I could get it. Next one will be a macro, but not for a loooooong while!!

good for you! No tips here, but I recognize your enthousiasm. On my previous (analog) camera, once I had the 90-300, I never took it off again. It totally changes the way you take pictures, I could never do without a nice zoomlens. (on my digital it's much smaller, but still satisfactory). So congrats!

hehe Sue, it was only last week that you said you were going window shopping, well I guess coming back with some glass is the same. Congrats and looking forward to more shots with your new purchase.

Don't forget you now have a gap between 55mm and 90mm to fill so another lens is absolutely required :)

I hope to get a lens like that someday.

Great shots!

Is the Canon 90-300mm f4.5-5.6 a better quality lens and take better pictures than the Canon 75-300mm f4-5.6?

don't think it can be Bill.....just checked our local online pricelist and the 75-300 f4-5.6 costs more than double what I paid. The 75-300 is IS, the 90-300 isn't ....praps that's the difference.

Want to see great detail? Get Canon 200 mm f2.8 USM II. $ 800

I had a quick search but couldn't find anything on the 90-300. You can get the 75-300 USM mk3 for £120, the IS version being £279. I think I see where Bill is going, the shorter the zoom the better the optics for an equivalent price???

No'
Only zoom lens I have is 18-55 kit lens and never use it!
All my lenses are fixed which gives me great sharpness and detail .
I have 20 mm f2.8,50 mm f1.8,105 mm f2.8 and 200 mm f2.8 ,also 2x teleconverter.

I'm also looking to buy 85 mm f1.8 for concert and indoor shots !

Right, that is what I was thinking because my 75-300mm f4-5.6 II really (pardon my french) sucks! :o\
