I just don't think it'll stay this high so I'm not sharing. But since you asked so nice:

Well that is something to write home about. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I can probably shout it home :)

Be honest and 'fess up.... How many REALLY 'played within the 100m' rule? As many as were honest in our self portrait challenge is my guess. Lots of money or dreamers on this site. (Nope, I did not participate.)

Some really good images in this free study.

I am so stupid still entering challenges I shouldn't enter... I am damaging my overall average which is very difficult to maintain.

I had one image in mind, based on an earlier shot I did. Tried and tried but could not duplicate it. Ended up entering a one off shot. The kind when you take one shot to see how it might look.

Same here. My neighborhood is boring. Well, except for the weekly visit from the cops. But they never showed this past week.

Also, I think the 1 fairy is voting. I just took a huge hit.

Funny histogram so far.

Nearly as many 5's, 6's, 7's and 8's!

This was something I had intended to shoot for months and months. Delighted I did so far!

I sure did. I live in a place where there's tons of "nice" specimens though so I'm sure I'm going to take a hit or two for DNMC.

I guess some folks consider the whole world their home... Well, good for them ;)
05/30/2011 09:45:46 AM · #41
mine was only about 50 feet from my home but that isn't helping my score any. Maybe I should have ventured a bit further. (or is it farther - can't remember).

First time posting to a score thread! I'm really nervous for this shoot, my photo is off to a great start, but historically they slowely dive the rest of the week.

I just finished voting. I have read a few comments in the thread about the images seeming to be 'not' within 100 yards of someone's home. I really don't see but a few that I questioned in my mind whether they fit the challenge. Many folks here live in cool locations, with interesting wildlife, right out their front doors, so I think it is best to take everyone at face value and trust that the photogs met the intent of the challenge.

Technically, mine is a DNMC, as I took it 1,135 miles from my home. It was only about 40 meters from my daughter's new home.

Doing about as expected so far, though not as well as hoped. I knew the subject choice might encourage a lot of 5's to be dropped.

Was hoping for a bit better. Doesn't surprise me that it's here, though.

the irony here is, at this rate it stands to knock my "47 steps" image from my profile page. i guess *I* need more "local" challenges eh? :)

here goes my average. I hope to recover with the FS...
by the way, I wasn't expecting high at all, maybe around my average, but the picture is so bad, I even would vote low to my own entry... and that's what I don't get it, why did I enter? I won't enter for fun anymore :-\
05/30/2011 11:28:03 AM · #50
Just got lowballed and a big drop. I'm sure it is the subject, not the photography of it. Encourages me to go drop some 2's and 3's on all the flower shots. Not that I would really do that, but it does seem some people vote primarily on subject choice and not how well the photo is done. They can vote however they wish, though.

Added: Leo, you know exactly what sort of shots to enter in order to get those high scores. Dramatic landscapes and technically perfect setup shots. Anything else is a crapshoot.
