I like to keep my "giving" average above my "getting" average 'cause most folks are way above my skills.

If you are being honest with your votes...then you can use a 5 point scale. 5 is highest and 1 is lowest. As long as you're doing that on every entry then you are not hurting anyone. However, when people see that they get a 1, they will of course be shocked ! IMO, if you are going to use a 5 point scale, why not just use the 10 ? Just move your scale accordingly and everyone is happy !

I was slammed by many in my last two 'voting spree' for being too stringent. My average score stayed around 3.5! Yikes.
I have my way of looking at things and no one can change it. But, I figured out a way to improve my voting score. Could someone tell me please, if these contests are about GETTING high scores on pictures or about GIVING high scores?

Anyway, here is my latest GIVING score:
Stats: You have rated 14 of 55 images (25%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.4286

I cannot go through the other ones. Honestly, I tried. :)

@Kenskid: I think we have discussed it before. To me it seems that you have nothing more than whining to do here. I don't know which part of my posts you didn't understand. I have repeated that I vote the way I do. I am NOT going to change it according to your whims.

Thank you.

If these contests were some kind of charity, I would give them all 10. There is a difference between malicious scoring and strict scoring. I admire a large number of photographers here and even try to emulate some of their work. However, I give scores strictly on the merit of the photographs. No apology for that.

Soooo...? Nobody else has any voting scales to share? Not that I'm trying to hyjack the thread or anything...

So you're the one that's been voting on my entries...

6 is my starting place. I almost NEVER give out anything less than a 5.

Is there any way to make sure you vote on all my entries?

Seriously, it seems to me that the voting has migrated 0.5 - 1.0 points harsher over the past year or two. Shots that, based on past experience, I think should / would score mid- to high-5's are pulling high-4's. However, I do feel like I'm improving (which is, for me at least, the goal).
