My friend and I are planning on going camping somewhere in the North Carolina area this weekend. Does anyone know of any great locations to shoot or camp at? I'm mostly looking to shoot landscapes...

Also, if anyone would like to meet up to shoot, camp, or just get some food or drink we would be glad to rendezvous.

Outer Banks...

Corolla, Duck, Kitty Hawk, Nags Head, Manteo, et. al.

There's 4 lighthouses in the area, many piers, loads of beaches, wild mustang horses, sunrises, sunsets, beaches, ocean, wild grasses and sand dunes, many unlimited subjects.

I am traveling there for the family vacation on Saturday!!

Whoops, forgot to clarify, I'm planning on going to the west side of the state since I'm starting out in Tallahassee.

We're going to the Nantahala National Forest tomorrow. More specifically Horsepasture River. Contact me if you'd like to shoot, camp, eat, or drink with us! (We're a bunch of university students from FSU and UF.)

You will enjoy Nantahala (Cherokee for "Land of the Noon Sun") and if you can make it to the gorge (occupied primarily by the Nantahala Outdoor Center, you will understand why it is named that).

And, I could be remembering wrongly, but I think Horsepasture River is technically part of Pisgah Nat'l Forest, but I think it was recently "rebounded" so maps may still show it in Nantahala, or perhaps the river starts in one and goes through the other. Don't know. I've not actually visited them. They are generally "rougher" than we can visit with two young children.

Please be careful at the falls. It seems that every year, someone dies because they just "have" to get in the water at the top of them.

Riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway can afford some nice vistas -- it is supposed to be cloudy/stormy on and off tomorrow, and after a rain, the mountains get all "smoky" and it makes for some nice images.
