I remember seeing some pics in some challenges where it was like flowers or grass, but kinda all blurry and wavy like an old painting... can anybody link me to some sample pics from past challenges? and possibly give me some pointers on how they were done? my new house has a whole wack of tulips the previous owner had planted and I want to try out that style of pic with them...

thanks!

Not tulips, but here you go...I just zoomed out while taking the pic on a slower shutter speed.

You might try browing in the Blur Gallery; it's a lot smaller than the Abstract Gallery.

You're probably talking about stuff like what ursula does. Check out floral and abstract in her portfolio. You could contact her and ask, if that's what you're meaning.

For zoom blur, try to expose to get a shutter speed around 1/4 and zoom in or out on the flowers as you shoot. It takes a bit of practise, but you'll get it no problem.

For motion blur, shoot handheld and use a long shutter speed to your liking and move the camera in various ways. Try short choppy movements up and down, or spin around or experiment to your own liking.

little circles...

longer up and down movement...

I actually tried some of those today after seeing Neil's photos again.....I sucked at it!! They were nowhere close to what he can do.

Ooh zoomblurs! I love zoomblurs!

ETA: Ironically I shot all these with my only VR lens, the 18-200 :-)
