I dedicated this challenge to fotomann_forever (personally) and I hope he will get his first ribbon. He has the perfect opportunity to make it this time :)

It's a good topic. I've shot many of my best images looking away from the sun.

Most of my local beach shooting spots would force me into a sunrise situation and MOST models don't do sunrise. Hmmmm... maybe it's time to talk my girlfriend into a camping trip....

Thanks for the encouragement :)

I'll have to stay local as I'm on call and also on dog-sitting duty with the family in Phoenix.

How literally will voters take the challenge description phrase, "... but face the opposite direction from the sun..."? If our weather ever clears, I may get a shot for this challenge over the weekend. And, I'm intending to shoot 180 degrees to the sun horizon event. But, if I were to shoot 90 degrees to the sun, would this be a DNMC?

That's a superb challenge topic Leo. I add a big +1.

I don't think anyone will notice. We just need to make a pretty picture and we're good.

I think the idea is, the sun should NOT be in the picture. Otherwise, I think you are safe

This one's somewhere between 90 and 180, maybe 135? And as far as I'm concerned, it meets the challenge...

Having seen this picture the SC decided to close the challenge!

I look forward to seeing your transdimensional horses galloping at dusk. Although that might be DNMC on multiple planes of existence...

Silly Richard...transdimensional horses are so...yesterday! Anyways, I've been recently inspired so I thought I would go with either the 18 year old grumpy cat or perhaps the exquisitely tortured tree...decisions...decisions...;-P

You weren't the only one to think I'm in Phoenix Mae, but I'm not. My family is there and I'm at home working and watching the dog. Too bad. Those desert sunrises could be pretty nice!

I guess the "stay local" should have been the give-a-way clue. Oh well...:-)

I'll edit that post. Thanks Jason! ;-)

For the sunrise/sunset challenge, I'll need some clearing weather. Discouraging this morning with fresh snow falling.

Screws up three different challenges.... all at once. Flowers under the snow. No sunrise/sunset light. Not enough light for a camera phone image. (see iPhone image above) It's all about the light and for right now, I may have to sit out some interesting challenges for the foreseeable future.

I have noticed that my camera time is wrong as the clocks changed a few weeks ago and I haven't updated it.

Is the SC going to check on exif data to make sure that the pictures are taken at sunrise/set?

Is it a DQ for entries taken at any time of day?

Challenge criteria is not a DQ'able offense unless there is a specific 'yellow flag' stating some specific limitation in the rules set. For example, there have been challenges where things such as text are allowed, etc. and the yellow flag tells you the extra rules for the challenge.

You cannot be DQ'd for not meeting the challenge criteria - you CAN and will be DQ'd for breaking the editing rules.
