I love photography, and Im thinking about going to school for it, but Im worried that I wont be able to find a job. I only really enjoy doing nature/scenery photography, is there any market for that?

I think your best bet would be as an instructor or guide for photography tours

That's pretty much exclusively a freelance field. Practically every "name" in the business supports him/herself with commercial or editorial photography, or has a different "day job", as far as I know. It's certainly MY passion, but I never earned a living at it; I worked as an Architectural Photographer, and for that i was self-employed, had my own business.

I figured so... cant really justify the money it would cost to go to school for it, If I cant find a decent job after.

I think hahn23 has the market cornered on that.

...but getting at your question...I think you would have to sell your work at art shows etc. I have a few friends that do this part time and make some bucks.

I have a young cousin, 26 years old who paints strange scenes...like a clothes hanger sitting on top of a coffee cup or a cork screw floating on a cloud. She actually makes a living selling her items at local and regional art/photography shows. She is working the New Orleans Jazz Fest the next two weekends and will likely sell many!

If you want to make a living at it, you will have to be dedicated and stick with it.

Here is her site.
