I have PS CS5, shoot with a Canon 50D, and have a variety of lenses.

Linda, would you consider taking me on...I'm thinking we could learn alot from each other...even though you have a (cough...cough) Canon. I think we like alot of the same format in pictures...what do you think

great shall I sign you up as a team?

That's fine with me...if it's ok with Linda...

it's a deal!

I guess my strong areas and/or interests are street portraiture, cars, aviation, old dilapidated stuff, and I also like abstract photography. I gravitate toward quirky stuff and I totally LOVE goofy faces. (Should I say something about enjoying long walks on the beaches and long insightful talks?)

PaintShop Pro is my weapon of choice, so I won't be able to offer software-specific tips to photoshop users. I do use several Topaz plugins and Nik Silver Efex.

great your signed up :D

Would be okay with me to try this again. I'll mentor one person who is interested in landscape and wildlife. Must be a DPC member.

Yah, and *I* claim the credit for starting her out, then hooking her up with Richard for a course of study more specific to her physical location. She's a great success story... And she's hooked up with ANOTHER success story and the two of them hang out virtually and make mockeries of our puny efforts, dang them both :-)

R.

LOL!!!! Old mentors never die, they just fade away.

I feel like reversing Leonardo's saying:
Poor is the teacher who is not surpassed by his pupil. (PS. Let's hope that the pupil does not turn into a total jerk)
Robert, have a great vacation. Waiting for you to get back at the master's desk!

I would love to be involved in anything portraits as a student OBVIOUSLY (would have to up my membership again to post pictures :-) )..... Mostly kids right now with the family but get the odd go at real people now and then but I just love people pictures. Would like to get into more "moody"/darker type images and that's where I see my images falling down.

On the offer side.... With an IT background the mechanical bits of camera & lightroom & lights and stuff I have.... I just take crap pictures :-/ Um... Can work a film camera and spell film :-) and that's pretty much all she wrote :-)

Been stuffing around but need something like this as a kick in the pants to get in and take pics instead of reading and what not so would love to get involved....

I can probably help out with closeup photography, nature and otherwise, natural light, photo-impressionism, stuff like that.

Ursula

I remember helping you before...I would willing to take you on again if you want. And in return you could teach me a trick or two...deal?

Especially for weddings... >.< was not happy about my wedding... so if there is someone who could teach me about low light photography that would be cool :)

I was just kidding about the "long walks on beaches" thing. It was starting to sound like a personal ad.

Let me throw this out for an idea:

I think the most helpful thing I've seen so far was DPL. Simply because there was a private thread, and not only was I able to get feedback on my own entries, but I was also learned from seeing the feedback on other people's entries.

What about creating mentor groups? For instance, I would absolutely love to be a bug on the wall of Ursula's group. That would be a dream come true. I received such helpful chunks of info from her during DPL. Instead of Ursula helping Judi and MargaretN individually, she can just create a group PM including MargaretN, Judi (and hopefully me!!). Not only would we learn individually, but we'd learn from other people's questions, as well.

I'd also like to be a part of Heida's group. :D

(btw, still looking for a student, it anyone wants to put up with me as a teacher... :)

Is Lvicari really on the list as a teacher? I desperately need help with lighting -- and I'd love to be his student!

I definitely have benefitted from this in the past. Not enough to become a teacher though :)
I don't know that I have a particular thing I want to work on over everything that needs to be worked on...
How does this work? Do we choose the student or vice versa or get assigned?

That's an excellent idea!

Sure! I could be your teacher! I have no idea what I could teach you, but I'll give it a shot! :)

Yay!! I won't be the last one in line waiting to be picked. I was starting to have flashbacks to elementary school gym class. :D

Well I have been pm-ing thoose who signed up as teachers to choose a student from the list, and have not gotten answer from the ones that are left, maybe it should be the other way around, now that I think of it? but I think you idea with groups is also good vawendy, how many should be in the groups then? cant have too many then it will be confusing isnt it?

I would probably leave it up to the mentor -- whatever they're comfortable with. But I would think 4 or 5 would be a good number.

I didn't pick anyone from the list, because their needs/wants were in my weak areas. Some of your teachers might be in the same position, yet some of the students might be happy with them anyway. :)

I am also struggling with off camera flash - if I can piggy back along, that would be great, but no probs if not.

Helda, I do not seem to be on the student list. Is the list the one on the first page or did you make another one? No answer yet from Lev.

Yes I am on the list. I have not replied as I didn't know what area I could help. I have a hard time myself with all areas so I found it odd that one might look to me for help in a specific area. I am willing to share whatever I know and have experience with. So if people want to join me in learning together, I'm cool with that. I have a lot to learn.

Heida you can hook me up with whoever wants to join me.:)
