I didn't see this being discussed any other threads, so I thought I'd fire one up...

I am neither promoting nor decrying this contest, and I have absolutely nothing to do with JPG Magazine -- but I thought it seemed like an interesting concept:

JPG Shootout - Photography Contest

From what I can gather (there isn't a great wealth of information about the contest on the site yet), they open a category for entries, you pay a fee ($2 for the first contest at least), and depending on the number of entries, they determine a prize structure (presently $500/$300/$200 for the first contest). They open voting (and I assume lock submissions) at some point, users vote, magic happens (since that is the JPG-voting-way, but I digress...) and at some point they declare winners.

I know there are mixed feelings about JPG mag (and I'm still on the fence myself until they come clean with their whole voting algorithm mess), but this seems like the kind of place DPCers could really "mop up" some winnings. The obvious catch is you have a pay to enter.

*shrug* I dunno. Just thought I'd pass it along at least -- anyone have any thoughts?

ETA - Just found some additional contest details in the site FAQ. My personal favorite:

It's crap. The voting system is flawed.
