It's okay, though, because I still have very few clues as to what I am doing, and I can accept that. Honestly, I'm just trying to improve my photographs; I'm not aiming toward a top ten finish just yet. |

| 4 out of 35 ... closest I came was 4th place ... I stopped entering there for a few months and just started getting back into the routine. |

I've had one top ten finisher in my first twenty one challenges, and three which finished above the 90th percentile.
I'm having fun; I'm learning; and I remain baffled why the images I think will do VERY well tend to suck in the voting, and the ones I think are just so-so come off with good scores more often than not.
I just cannot seem to predict how any of my entries will actually do. (For instance, I thought my current entry in Chocolate would be lucky to hit 5.0, and it's going to finish -- knock wood -- above 6.)

Yeeha! Since this thread was posted, I've gone 5 out of 8 in the top five, with 4 ribbons! I'm not likely to catch the regular winners anytime soon, but it's still very exciting. Fire alert: smokeditor has gone 7/12 in the top 10, and kiwiness and heida are each 6/6 (all top 5 in Heida's case)! Anybody else on a roll lately?

I have 4/4 in the top 20, maybe 5/5 if my Framing shot gets lucky.

9 in the 90%+ percentile (26.5%)
15 in the 80%+ percentile (44.1%)
One ribbon.

Including the two current challenges, I will be 0 for 6...no problems, though.
I have made it my goal to allow myself to buy a digital rebel as soon as I get a top ten photograph on dpc.
But if I have to wait too long for you guys to recognize my photographic genius, I'll buy one sooner! |
