2 out of 3, which makes for a great batting average, but I don't think it means much since I obviously don't "step up to the plate" very often.

Edit: 3 out of 4 now...

One 1st Place out of 20 entries.

I did have one 18th, one 29th, one 30th Place out of those 20 entries.

Boo Hoo.

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

Good grief, people like me would be happy for even one shot in the top 10 (which is exactly what I have out of 50 entries. That's 0.5%). Stats like most of these, I would kill for.

Everyone knows how good you all are, after all we all voted you there. But to post your envious stats and then say "Oh I'm such a lousy photographer that I only got this many in the top ten." kinda kicks the rest of us in the face. If you are such bad photographers, what does that make us?

Someone move this to the RANT section.

(Done ranting and mixing it up. Stepping back to avoid backsplash, angry retorts.)

I have 3 out of 130 entries with 1 2nd ribbon, but I keep trying. My goal for this year was to get a ribbon and to only enter photos that will score in the 5's.

15 out of 64 total - 6 scores of 7 - 6 ribbons total
6 out of 35 A40 - 1 scores of 7 - 3 ribbons
9 out of 29 dSLR - 5 scores of 7 - 3 ribbons

5 from 24. & the other entries are all over the place.
still only 1 3rd place, so my Blue ribbon is still to come. (I hope)

No one's trying to put anyone else down. Some people like stats and goals and friendly competition, and others don't. I'm sure the top photographers on this site have much loftier goals than others (as well they should), but that's ok. We're all here for the same reason ... to play the challenges and perhaps improve ourselves.

:)

Don't forget though - some of us would prefer not to be voted highly anyway by this bunch of utterly tasteless, deplorable, tediously predictable freaks.

BTW I haven't won a ribbon yet.

My objective is not necessarily to break the top 10 (which i've only done 1/13 times)But rather to finish within the top 80th percentile for each challenge. This is a more realistic goal and is relative to the size of the field. So far, I've only been able to make the 80th % on 6/13 challenges.

My highest rating is 58 or something.
I am posting here because I think this thread is a great idea and I have been able to look at some excellent work because of it. Well done you all.

not so good... next one is 15th than 38th and it seems that I score lowerer and lowerer. I would like to think that is due to the increasing number of dSLR :)

I choose to boast when my stats are as good as one of my idols on this site.

KIWINESS:
I believe it was 49 entries.....
Twenty Six that's right...twenty six top ten.
And a wack of others in the top twenty!.

Wow.
Check out his work and learn.

4 of 24 here. I've come so close to a ribbon but none yet. I'm happy with my "Words" entry and maybe it will be well received. Ribbon or not I'm learning a lot and enjoying the site.
07/13/2004 01:35:47 PM · #47
1/43 in the top ten, but 3/43 in the top eleven!

;>)

I think my new goal, after reading some of this thread will be to have 10% of my photos in the 0-10 range, 20% of my photos in the 0-20 range, 30% 0-30, etc.

So far:

0-10 - 7.1%
0-20 - 21.4%
0-30 - 28.6%

And I've been improving, so hopefully those'll go up, although I have less time these days for photography, unfortunately.

I agree..I have only had one photo finish in the top 50. I take some pretty crappy pictures obviously and that they never seem to fit the challenge in any body elses opinions. But it is clear that in my opinion those pictures are meeting the challenge. I agree that this should be moved to the rant section..Cuz it doesn't kind of make me feel like crap knowing that people are mad cuz the made the top 10. When some of us can't make it to the top 50. Hell I'm happy if there are more than 100 submissions and I make it to the top 100.

I'm 1/13 going by your exact question, but I was quite happy with the 6.9 score that landed in 19th/310 in the march free study in a competition that was full of SO many great images ;)
In fact that score is higher than the 8th/169 finish...
What place you finish in is all relative to the # & quality of photos in each competition. Still trying to make it over that ellusive 7 mark, no matter what place it puts me in.
