A photography student was recently accosted and detained by members of the SPD, Dept of Homeland Security, and Ballard Locks Security for taking pictures at the Locks.
I'm organizing a photo workshop at the Locks to let them know this random treatment of non-terrorists is simply NOT acceptable.

I will consider it. I would enjoy meeting other photographers from this site and shooting around the area. I have been wanting to go there for awhile. However, I won't be involved in trying to instigate a situation. I'm not saying that you have that in mind but I just need to make that clear.

Absoultely on spot.
My intentions are not to get rowdy or violent, but to just have a nice peaceful day of photography. I have a wife and daughter and no wishes to go to jail, just to show my support of Ian and disapproval of his treatment.
I love photographing there, have never been confronted, and I hope a mass of people of any size will show the Locks' personnel that photographers do, and will continue to photograph there.
BTW - no offense taken, it's something that needs to be said up front.
Folks who may be considering coming should understand this point of view. We're not doing this to take on the SPD, OK? |
