every now and than a set of photos hits home for each of us. My son has a form of Muscular Dystrophy called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. What it does to a person is hard to explain if you aren't familiar with the disease. A father of a child with DMD decided to put into photographs what is hard to get words to express. I'm hoping some day to make such powerful photos.

Matt, thanks for posting those, some very nice images that really drive home the point graphically without resorting to the usual tug at your heartstrings approach.

I assume you read the New Yorker story about Pat Furlong. It was a beautiful story about fighting an uphill battle.

Yes I have, and I've met Pat in person at a fundraiser some years back. She is a very nice lady and has done some wonderful things and been through some very awful things to get to where she is.

wow! that looks like something scalvert would do. wouldn't it be cool if dpc could handle a photo essay challenge...

It takes a huge heart, compassion, understanding and courage to take photos like this. It takes all that we are to confront the disease. Thank you for the post

Skip that might be a great idea. Photo essay in triptych. Tell the viewer a story.

Wow...excellent work. I think the first one says it most and the last one is most touching.
