Lot of fluctuation going on...

My normal trend is the first votes are kinda decent, but then the overnight kills my score, then the rest of the week it slowly climbs.

This time, I started high, dropped slightly, then climbed in the first couple of hours. Overnight saw an increase! But now it's a rollercoaster.

Almost had a new PB, now I'll be fortunate if it makes the front page.

Glad to see others higher than me, so I don't have to spend the week imagining a ribbon.

I normally do not keep track of my scores but I was awake and looking at the Tarot results and noticed that my bottle(s) got in the first four minutes 2 votes with an average of 3. So far so good. This morning I was upgraded by 47 voters to 5.02. Since I am zero at the math exercises I cannot speculate or predict and wait for the finals.

I just looked at all the bottles (did not score any yet) and was so deeply, deeply disappointed by the submissions (I thought I was the only uninspired one!). As marnet said: "Just finished voting. So many similar entries my head is spinning!" Very polite comment.

A third of the entries could have been saved for What DPC Loves the Most: droplets and effects - a third are so banal and ordinary one would think that a dull blanket covered the brain of all of us. Are we intimidated by the simplicity of a theme? The other third are tending towards stock photography, for the best and for the worst. (We tend for some artistic merit here on top of the technical aspect, aren't we?)

This almost reminds me of the metal on metal challenge. I wonder if a photography class got another assignment to enter here...

Would love for you to pick out what you think is the best of the best (maybe top 10%) or so and leave a comment.

Blanket categorizations like this (while fine and probably true) do a lot to instill doubt into those who might have done a good job in your eyes.

I will definitely cast my votes and comment. I always do. The doubt that I might instill in the ones who did a good job will last until the final results. Not too bad! I included myself also in the non imaginative group, got my share of doubt and the respective marks.

Does it mean DPC voters are easily influenced by any kind of individual opinion? Easily swing from 10s to 1s?

I expected to drop but didn't expect to drop this much. Went from 5.4545 @11 votes to 4.8000 @50 votes. Ouch

About to go sub 6 :( From a 6.8 early on to a stable 6.5.

If you are going to give me a 1, 2, or 3, at least leave me a comment telling why you dislike my entry. I take no offense to criticism and would love to know what to change for the next challenge. That's not to much to ask for is it? I understand not every photograph appeals to everyone. But tell me why and then give me the 1. Lot to learn on my end but it's difficult when you get no comments. Hide your personal techniques but tell me what I'm doing wrong. Oh, thanks to those that do leave comments. It does help us noobies.
Have a nice day... :)

My stable 6.5 is around a 6.25 now. I got a few low votes. Most noteably a 1.
I hope it stays above 6! I didn't expect to be in this territory at all pre-challenge, so I'm very happy!

Not going to lie, I took a look at the entries and to me it looks like a lot of the entries are from people who didn't feel comfortable entering the librodo challenge.
For once, I do feel like there is a significant "photographer quality" difference between the two challenges. Now, that doesn't mean everyone of course, there are a few really really nice entries I have seen, but there is also a lot of Blah

I didn't have a model at my disposal... I would have loved to enter that one.

I agree with the Blah Fiora and I might be in that category. I actually don't mind getting a 1, 2, or 3 rating as long as there is a comment on why so I can improve. That's how I learn. If it's just the occasional lowball I write that off to personality. But when it's multiples there must be a problem. Even a simple "I just don't like it" tells me something.

In my opinion, very few people leave comments or they only leave comments on the photos they like. My last few challenges I score relatively low and the comments except for 1 were mostly positive and did not offer constructive feedback. I have taken the stance that I will comment and vote in each photo in challenges that I participate in. This makes me slow down in voting and really look at a photo to pin point what it is I like or don't like about the image. I figure I can't complain about not receiving feedback if I don't provide feedback myself.

Commenting takes time, I noticed that some people reported on voting on all images about 30 minutes after voting opened. Going through 120 images in 30 minutes isn't possible if you are commenting.

I am not into portraits and not into water bottles. It was a tough choice.

Down to 5.8 in the last couple of hours.

Scumsucking lowball jealous voters.

YUP! The snowball is picking up speed. Hmmmm... It was fun while it lasted. Johnny Cash comes to mind, "Down, Down, Down, in the ring of fire." But who knows. Lots of time left. Maybe it will turn around.
