Speaking for myself, I saved all my commenting energies for the adjudication. Those whose images were discussed during deliberations may get a comment from me, but they won't know it. :-) Some commentary on the images will be released when the winners are announced, but it will be anonymous. We'll speak more or less as a group, or a panel. I'd be happy to leave comments after the results are announced. I'll leave anyone who wants one a detailed critique.

Is starting the request with "You bas**rds! How could you spurn my amazing entry!" more or less likely to elicit a detailed critique?

Louis I will definitely hit you up for a comment after the challenge, simply because I followed the advice that you gave me from the first Fine Arts challenge and I want to know your opinion on it... It has gotten a better reaction from the voters, so I suppose that's a step in the right direction :)

Yes, but not necessarily of the photo. ;-)

No comments from me during the challenge. I might return to some images after the challenge, though, if I feel the jury results left something unsaid.

Will you award posthumous ribbons for this challenge???

Thanks for all the responses. I was just curious since I had not heard anyone get a comment from a juror.

They exist to make sure the idiots voting don't get to pick all the winners ...

Nothing like grouping all of the voters into a nice pigeon hole. What absolute drivel...and then we wonder why some take offence at the elitism displayed by some individuals in this venue.

I am NOT however prepared to call all regular voters IDIOTS.

Ray

And describing someone as elitist and their opinion as "drivel" is somehow ... better?

Per Forum Rule #13, I am prepared to accept the original comment as good-natured hyperbole, and not an actual psychiatric/neurologic diagnosis ...
****

Someone should start a pool to see who can guess the jury's top three picks ... ;-)

That last sentence confused me for a minuet. I first read it as.
"no, for this challenge there is only the bong".

Where are we going to find the jury's verdict?
04/17/2011 03:46:48 PM · #170
A new thread in "Challenge Results", like last year, but not until some time Monday evening.

What I would love to see would be the decisions made by each individual jury member, (anonymously of course)... just to see if the jury members preferences were in sync relative to the images presented.

I know it probably would not be considered, but it would nonetheless be interesting to see the differing opinions.

That's effectively what we are doing. We each nominated a specific number of images for a "short list", and it was from that list that we chose our 3 "winners"; the rest on the final short list get honorable mentions. They will all be published in the results thread tomorrow.

We don't even know ourselves who nominated all the images. We each sent our picks to a trusted DPCer who is not on the jury, and that person collated the list and sent it back to us for deliberations. Some of us revealed which images we had picked during the ensuing discussions, and some of us did not.

After the results are published tomorrow, some of us may choose to reveal which images we most favored, personally, and others of us will surely choose not to :-)
