Like 3 others before me, this is the one image that stuck with me the most. If I could fave it again I would.

Actually makes me wonder what kind of smell is on his finger to make his face go like that. :O)

Looking through my favourites to check the id numbers, I can see lots that should have stuck in my mind, but I decided to be honest and show you what actually has.

.......

.......

There are another half dozen or more that spring to mind sometimes without provocation or because of some connection, but these were the ones I went looking for.

This composition is absolutely stunning, with the flyer soaring from the blue background into the whiteish background. The lines from the bottom along the boardwalk up through the compatriots practically lead you out into the sky. I could easily see this used on a motivational poster titled, "There are NO Limits!" This is a great example of what can happen when Jon dives into a topic. Something catches his interest and the next thing you know, he's pulling the rest of us along on his trip. One other thing about this image that is of note: it is part of a series Jon started a couple years ago when some free-runners caught his fascination. Not only did he explore them through his captures, but also through his post-processing. He continued this work and developed his Parkour project which not only took his art to a new level, but also to a much higher degree of visibility.

------------------------------------------

This image just ROCKS! Jason's processing is so over-the-top and far-and-away from conventional. And this image says it all about Jason. He'd never been to a race before, never even thought of going. A situation came up where I was able to get him credentialed for the NASCAR races in Richmond and he came down to shoot it for the weekend. And, without any prior experience, he went out and shot some of the most killer stuff - and he did it with a camera he'd never used before! It just goes to show, if you have the vision and the passion to explore, it doesn't matter where you are or what you're working with, you'll always come up with something. Jason's catalog is full of amazing imagery. He's definitely one of those you just can't wait to see what he does next.

------------------------------------------

How can you look at this and just not feel enveloped by the foggy mist? It is just so heavy, like a moment that you don't know when will pass. Now, in typical DPC-fashion, I could suggest that the surfers are bit distracting and should be cloned out, but they are part of the reality of the image that makes it a photograph. And this is just one step in the evolution of Brad Petersen. That guy has got to be one of the most self-deprecating individuals I've ever met, as well as one of the most generous. He can shoot anything, anywhere, anytime, and then process it exactly right. If there ever was a photo-mechanic, it would be Brad.

------------------------------------------

What a remarkable image - vintage Ed! Keen observation, perfect composition. Now I'm constantly looking for ways to break my images in two.

------------------------------------------

My challenge comment pretty much sums up how I feel about this one: "oh, wow! this is simply wonderful. you have captured the spirit of life. thank you for sharing. i really, really hope this is getting the attention it deserves, and hopefully without any comments about what to do differently. this image is exactly what you wanted it to be, and i'm loving it! this site needs more images like this! [ok, i'm starting to ramble...just can't help it - this tends to happen when i hit a breath of fresh air like this!] good luck with this and all the challenges yet to come!"

Even though Barbara's image was ridiculously underrated, I still find it quite inspirational in that a photograph does not need to be perfect - it just needs to be a moment.

------------------------------------------

Here again, I'll fall back on my previous comments:

"i've always liked this shot; in fact, i think it was this one that really triggered a lot of my city shooting.... the post processing is very interesting, and i hope to make use of it with some of my images. one thing i'm quite sure of is that this technique will not make a bad image good - you have to have a strong foundation image (like this) to begin with. great job!"

------------------------------------------

What a rush! This is an image that just sucks you in. That open, gaping mouth is perfectly placed. This image comes back to me again and again, whenever I observe chaos. It has been the inspiration for a handful of my own images, like this one and this one.

------------------------------------------

All I can do here is repeat myself: "wow...probably one of the most incredible images to ever ribbon. reminds me of xion. relish this."

------------------------------------------

Easily one of the most powerful and inspiring images in the entire DPC catalog. This was a moment captured. Not eye-candy, not set up, not planned. It was nothing more than a moment in ShannonLee's life and she grabbed it. It was taken nearly five years ago, when Shannon was only 18, and it's a moment that will last many, many lifetimes. This is the type of image that makes photography real for me: when I consider how many real life moments I would miss if I spent hours dedicated to a set up shot, from envisioning it, to rounding up supplies and models, to setting up the shot, to shooting, and then post-processing it, I just can't do it. I've got to be out in the real world, shooting life as it is.

------------------------------------------

On the flip-side, this image was my first real exposure to what you could do with a camera when you weren't trying to capture real life. Still one of my faves after all these years.

------------------------------------------

I could go on and on, but I've got to get back to work. There are many, many more images in my faves, and many, many more on the site.

The only thing that really, really bums me out is that there are so many images that meant a lot to me that, because they were not in challenges, their owners exercised their right to delete them from their portfolios. Sigh.

Anyways, great thread!
