Lydia
What an awesome way to give something back to the community. I have been wanting to do something that is a gift to families and this seems like the perfect opportunity. I'm glad you posted here, I'm applying today.

Wonderful, Penny!

Please let me know how it goes. I'll be a support buddy if you need one. :)

Thanks Lydia...
How long did it take for you to hear back from them? It says it could take up to 8 weeks. I also need to join either WPPI or PPA, I just haven't decided which one. They both have insurance available through them.

They've looked over my retouched edits of the images they sent to me and... I've been approved as a Digital Retouch Artist!

Excellent, congrats! I'm sure they'll be mightily impressed soon enough. :)

ETA: It's awesome that you're putting your skills to this use, clearly a very worthy cause that makes me feel just a bit wasteful/selfish for just processing for my own stuff, usually for these silly challenges...

All, THANKS bunches for your support! I love this place!

Penny, since I was applying for the DRA position, not as a photographer, it was pretty quick. After they received my application, the email with links to the three test edit images was immediately sent.

Then, after they received my edits (even on a weekend) it was less than a day before I heard a result from them.

I imagine it takes a bit longer to critique a photographer, since they want to see a professional website with various lighting situations.

PM me if you have questions. I'm more than happy to tell you what tiny bit I know.

What a wonderful gift for those grieving parents. I'm sure your work will be greatly appreciated Lydia.

Good luck to you Penny - hope you get accepted as a photographer.

I don't think I could do either of those tasks and I have a great deal of respect for those who can.

What a beautiful gift!

I don't have the emotional stamina to do the photography. But I adore anyone who does, and commits to doing it. Best of luck LydiaToo and pjangel.

Best of luck to you in this venture. No way I would be able to handle it emotionally.

UPDATE...
After 8 weeks I was approved as an affiliated photographer for NILMDTS and I did my first session within a week. I was lucky enough to be able to photograph the session with one of the organizations national trainers, Ron Williams. Difficult?... Yes.. Rewarding?... Extremely!! Being able to give something to the parents/families of these little ones... Priceless!!

My hats off to anyone who can bring themselves to perform such a service.

You may find this article from a local photographer very interesting. You may want some tissues handy.
