when someone gives a comment such as 'not effective', i can handle that, but would be great to know why that person thinks so.
01/11/2011 08:11:23 PM · #127
I am not going to ever, ever again comment on 100% of entries!
01/11/2011 08:41:11 PM · #128
hi marnet,

why not? any comment is higly appreciated. the one you gave to my entry didn't have much content in it, but i am glad you saw in my image something that makes it fit the challenge.

i have only given very few comments to other people's entry due to the fact that i usually access dpc on my phone and its quite hard to type something wordy in it.

you got to 100% quite fast, which probably explains why you seemed stressed out :)

thanks for the 6, by the way.

DONE IT AT LAST!! That was exhausting. Overall my average finished below average. I gave a one 9 and 4 7s. I am very interested in results, and whether my top pick gets the blue.

My own entry is sitting on 5.8, still better than expected but only 3 comments.

You gave me a DNMC twice and both times my score dropped.
But I still appreciate understanding the score (even if I don't agree with the reason).

Sorry, I don't know which one is yours but I did not downgrade any scores. Usually, if I just said "Not effective" it meant that I simply could not find anything to counter-balance DNMC. But there were quite a few DNMCs that scored well. To me subjective DNMC is not a good enough reason to give a low score for an otherwise great photo.

Don't be shy! It is fun. I seem to be the opposite - 7 weeks and 117 posts.

Actually -- I thought there were a number of excellent shots in this challenge! There were a number that didn't seem particularly out of balance. But there were some wonderful out of balance (oob?) shots.

Nicely done, folks. :)

I decided to start tracking the voting for this and the last 10 votes went:
6-4-2-7-4-8-4-3-7-3

No 5's - should be an interesting spread of votes at the end. Oh, and the commentators all like it, even the DNMC one.

I am trying hard to understand this. My predicted 5.0 is now close to 6, while my predicted 6 (Work) is close to 5! I was spot on with my prediction before.

Any voter psychologists amongst the members? Why so much difference of opinion? Is this the wrong phase of the moon? Mysterious cosmic radiation? Something mixed in with the milk? Anything else? :)

Three more votes (they are coming slowly) 6-3-8.
I predicted this shot wouldn't finish in the 5's as I thought people would either like it or hate it. Hate is winning but I'm enjoying the ride :-)

The shortest distance between here and the loony bin is trying to predict scores.

edit to add that my score continues to sink. Slowly. Very. Very. Sloooooowwwllyyyyyyyyy

This is an unbalanced challenge. Soooo....the entries with the low votes are actually at the winners end, whilst the high scores are at the other end. Hey that means....I win...yayyyy!

OHHH I've got this weird voteing delima figgured out... I read the Zodiac has changed... like I use to be a Cancer, and now am a Gemeni (which I can't even spell) sooo the whole universe is off balance, thus makeing an off balance photo so off balance to our off balance minds that we vote off balance on it.... Seems right

Seems logic enough to me, everything's so Ooooff lately.

so... if oof is out of focus, then out of balance would be oob

so someone should bring back the oobie awards for this!!

Doing ok, but not great. I think I'm not out of whack enough. This shot would have probably done better in a different challenge.

Have managed to climb to this from a 5.2.
Might be lucky enough to squeeze a 5.5 out of it for rollover with any luck.
