This year I do not have a photo that I truly love above the rest (those I entered in Free Study), but I have like 10 pretty decent shots that I like equally but that could score drastically differently based on what might end up having greater appeal.
How do you choose?

Oh, that's easy. You just create 10 separate accounts. It's time consuming, but that's the burden of being so outrageously talented. Maybe I'm revealing too much, but I'm actually also gyaban, hahn23, PennyStreet, andrewt, nutzito, Covert_Oddity and bspurgeon. Keep that on the DL though.

Edit: As the good General has pointed out below, the above was meant to be sarcastic.

But then again of course I'd follow his advice. I'm him also!

The above was again sarcastic. Done now.

I strongly encourage the use of tags for posts like this, so that you don't inadvertantly lead a newbie into doing something they shouldn't ... your tone of voice does not come through on the browser display ...

It is probably best to ask about the rules after a challenge is announced -- all else is speculation or assumption, and you should never ass|u|me ...

What about stuff that's gone into side challenges? Are they subject to the same restriction as official challenges?

Nope. They are fair game. May want to hide it if visible in your DPC profile/portfolio.

That's interesting. It was a hypothetical question in a way, as I haven't really got anything particular in mind, but if I have anything of value there's a fair chance that's where I'll find it.

The dates on the challenge itself say it is due by the 20th. Glitch, I'm guessing.

Do we really need a month to enter? It's not like we need time to shoot.

The Aussies might need a month to dry out? I'll still submit in the last hour, regardless of the length of the window.

I'm not a patient person, and this is an agonizing wait. But putting my own personal issues aside, the problem I see with it is this: A month to submit is going to accumulate close to a thousand entries -- maybe more. A week to vote won't be enough. As long as we're dragging this out to marathon lengths, at least allow two weeks for voting and commenting on such a huge number of entries.

I agree. Even before the month-long window to submit I was hoping for two weeks to go through and comment and enjoy while voting.

One of the "Best of"s did have a longer voting period, if I remember correctly.

Well I think I have it narrowed down to 13. Hmm... I may need the month to decide.
