There have been a bunch of news stories about this in the past couple of weeks - Birds dropping out of the sky, and fish dying.

Two Million Fish Found Dead in Maryland

More dead birds fall from sky in US

Mysterious bird deaths hit Sweden

Is it just coincidence? - Or are they linked, like the whole shift-in-the-earth's-magnetic-field 2012 theory. Or perhaps a touch of 'Flash Forward' ;-) ?

I think our best strategy is to befriend and hang out with John Cusack.

A new weapon in testing... Can we say "Microwave-ray gun"? I think those things kills pretty quick too, internal bleeding and WHAMOOO... you're gone :-\

of course, this is only a conspiracy... or is it?

I think the reason this is happening is obvious. I thought it had been reported.

That was just a cover-up story.

Actually it's not Dec 21 2012, it's May 21, 2011.

according to Harold

May 21st is also my birthday. I'm trying not to draw any conclusions from that. ;-)

I think it's an interesting mystery and I don't think they have the answer in Arkansas. I would think if the birds had just run into something and died you would have seen a pattern on the ground. Lots on the sides of houses, etc. I never heard that reported. Really interesting...

Why is this in Rant?

I think Langdon has a filter set to move any thread in which I reply to Slippy, or in which Slippy and I both reply to a comment directly to Rant...

I heard on the news that all the birds in Arkansas had some sort of physical trauma. Like they flew into some sort of debris field or were hit by hail. They also mentioned fireworks and one UK site site mentioned an invisible UFO.

Yes, I had heard about the blunt trauma on the necropsies too, but I had never heard anybody mention a pattern on the ground.

(Just for fun.) On the New Madrid fault, Beebe, Arkansas is about 100 miles from the bootheel of Missouri, not far from New Madrid ground zero for the 1812 earthquake events occuring between January 23 and February 7, 1812. So, one possibility is the bird death is a precursor of another major earthquake event. Not a lot of science to support this, but will be something to watch for correlation

The other more "feasible" explanation is the weather wars effect of HAARP. Death ray? Or, just plain old weather modification, there may have been a failed experiment.

Did anyone bother to check to see if a Canadian was walking around with an open Hockey Bag?

And they still don't know what's killing all the bees. I think we'd all better really enjoy this year...

Piece in Scientific American on that today. No definite answers but i imagine it'll boil down to what a lot of these cases boil down to. Human beings seemingly being addicted to defecating in their own bed on a global scale. Very sad. Bye bye bees.

I opened a can of peas yesterday. On the top was stamped; "Best used by December 2012." Indeed.

The video in your link is hilarious! I find it very interesting how crazy some people are, and they have large followings as well. This is the kind of thing I only read about, but to see someone so crazy on a video just makes me go, "WOW... WOW!"

ETA... unless she's spoofing, but it does seem like a serious video...

When it comes to any kind of universal creationism i tend to be firmly agnostic but the beliefs of that dotty lady tend to chime better with me than those of regular Christians with their omniscient, benevolent, loving creator. That seems even more crazy to me. I'm far more taken with a slightly Gnostic idea of an utterly insane creator (or perhaps an impassive, scientific, petri dish studying one). The kind of creator who passionately hates teh Gayz and flies off in a juvenile, serial killer in the making, bird slaughtering rage when they are allowed into the army. Yea, i can get behind that idea.

The content of her craziness doesn't matter to me. It's seeing her speaking coherently, and the thought that she may have a legion of equally crazy followers. By in the back of my mind I'm still thinking it's just too far fetched, and it's an SNL spoof.
