Man, I hate pet stores. If I had money, I'd buy all the pets from all the stores.

And have a huge ranch where they could all roam free! And I'd give them away to people who'd take good care of them.

I hate zoos too.

I mostly agree about pet stores as they are in it for a profit, they are a business after all.

Most zoos are quite different from pet stores. I'm sure there are a lot of zoos that are not the best, but for the most part they have changed a lot from the early days where animals were put on display for people's amusement. The amusement of people has now turned into a way to pay for the upkeep of the zoos and also education. Endangered animals are surviving, in part because of zoos, and breeding programs are trying to improve the endangered status of some animals.

It's a cute picture, but hopefully s/he was just trying to get the last biscuit at the bottom of the dish!

get your pets from the local SPCA or similar organazation which saves abandoned or abused animals - i haven't had a bad dog yet from there - and they are taken care of better than any pet store can.

Yeah, that part of zoos I'm totally for, I just don't like the part where they keep these huge animals that need lots of space in these tiny areas. And then all they do is lay there. But I forgot about the endangered species part, so that's good. I still hate zoos, but I haven't been to one in years. I'll have to go check it out myself, and see if they really have improved a lot, with bigger, cleaner areas.

Agreed.. I don't get what all the fuss is about. Difficult to tell from the pic, but it just looks like it's eating/drinking/resting. Hardly a depressing picture without context or a personal hatred towards petstores, zoos, and animals in captivity. Think of all the animals we could afford had we not plunged into photography! ;)

I got my kitty from the shelter, I'll post some pictures soon...she doesn't like the camera at all though.

She definitely has a personality, when she's not sleeping.

New here, why do a lot of the forums have a reply that just says "Bump"?
