It turned 1st January an hour ago here in UK :-)

This was took earlier on in the year in about July.
I recently looked over it again and after processing tonight, IMO black and white looks quite nice.

Thanks for setting this up BTW roz!

I see that I am going to have to use stronger reading glasses to edit with the 3" screen on the camera.

This was an attempt from the Solstice eclipse. It was difficult to take because a) I was very tired - rough day at work and all that, and it was after midnight... and b)the moon was directly overhead and my tripod was not cooperating, so this was handheld with a Canon 35-350 zoom (which is a push/pull zoom and therefore tries to slide down when pointed straight up). I finally just laid on my back and tried not to breathe. Post-processing today consisted of cropping to emphasize the moon, a tiny bit of color correction to show what I actually saw, and a little noise reduction. If you look closely, you can see a face on the surface of the moon. I have another one from the same night that I will work on tomorrow and post. The eclipse night started out with a lot of fog, but cleared in time for the main event.

First real attempt at painter - using auto paint and manual intervention points to adjust the auto paint parameters

This meant to be worked on manually after the auto paint step is done. I just haven't got that far yet. I'll be posting updates as I progress with this image.

Goodbye to Father Christmas, hello to incredibly scruffy garden. I neglected it horribly last year, time to make amends.

.....Taken on the shores of Lake Jindabyne. Thousands of these little moths foraging for food on the foreshore.

Happy New Year!

Oh, and FYI for those who don't know - I don't open shots of vermin. So if you shoot only insects, consider yourself acknowledged by me, but I won't be commenting. :oD

Edit to add some more... This is the image I used for the overlay. I converted it to BW and erased everything off the sky up to the horizon.

This is dew on my car, taken at night against some light in a parking lot in Arizona.

Here's the original photograph from which the painting is being created:
(cropped the same way so as not to reveal what the rest of the image looks like)

I'm waiting on my daughter to get home (from last night) so we can head over to the Mummer's parade. Hopefully she shows up before it's over (I'm babysitting so can't leave till she gets home). I should be able to stock up on snapshots there! For today, I offer this...

Not sure of my theme yet. I have to take some photos today - I am fresh out. Happy New Year, everyone!!

And by the way - these images are for fun. No need for critique or like you would during voting in a challenge. I like side challenges for that reason. Images to follow...

I think it might have to be macros for me this month. This isn't the best, but for short notice, it'll have to do.

I'd like to second that. And Happy New Year, Judy!

OK, so first attempt in CS5. Not real happy with it. Probably because I am not sure yet what I am doing. Decided that starting tomorrow I am going to pick one technique and just learn that well, then go on to the next and so on.

I would love all critique, I have super tough skin and know that I will never learn if I am not told the brutal truth, so fire away :-).

Also, if you have any suggestions for the first couple of tools to learn in PS5 please just leave that in the comments of the pics too, then I will know where to start tomorrow.

Thank you all!

The very first photo of my first daughter, Anna, on August 27th, 2007. I'm using this SC as an opportunity to edit some shots around her birth.

All of my shots were taken with an Olympus C-720UZ (a 4MP camera purchased in 2002) that no longer works. Hopefully, my photography and editing skills have improved some since 2007, but I guess we'll see if my editing skills have improved.

Looking for lots of critique as well. It helps me improve.

Photo 1 - I figured since I was going back to edit old photos, I best start from the beginning. Unfortunately my first Kodak camera's quality sucked, so I'm not going that far back. This is from 2002, and shot with my Sony F707. My original edit from years ago was much darker and moodier.

Taken on a recent holiday, this ladies head scarf stood out, so i thought i'd include it in the photo.

Here's a snapshot from this morning. I was shooting indoors earlier, and forgot to set the iso back from 2,000. Oops.
