Loved this one, first shot entered with my 100mm macro.

Hope you'll forgive me, but I can't decide on the second, so here's the two that are "second" favorites...
- love this one because it was so poorly received by the masses, but was appreciated by the few..
- one of my first HDR images, I'd do this differently now, but I like the overall effect on this one.

I really enjoyed this challenge and I really like the coloration and quirkiness of this image.

One of my favourite pictures I've ever taken. It has a soft intimacy about it.

To be honest, I don't care for most of my photos much past the editing phase. Voting keeps me interested in them just a tad longer, if they are scoring well. I'm always looking for the next idea.

But, if I had to show one, I'll say this one, only because the model is my girlfriend.

And this one, because I'm pretty proud of getting a Sapphic shot into the top ten here:

A perfect January day in Zion, fresh layer of snow. Nobody about but one other photographer and a few park employees. I got the shot right in camera but it took 6 hours in Photoshop to finish it off (yea lots of save changes - NO , start over). A bit noisy here but profiled to a Costco printer in full size 11 by 14 WOW. Sent a printing to my mom that she entered in the county fair, first place and invited to the state level but my mom forgot to send it LOL.

Las Vegas, City Center, Playing with light and shape in a place I probably shouldn’t be, this scene called to me (the big guy on the right indicated his displeasure shortly after this capture). Pretty much just as the camera recorded, PP was just resizing. The distraction on the bottom left is actually a 1arge rose sculpture reflected from across the street and I thought it fit well in the story I was trying to tell.

i love everything about this picture.

My first attempt at shallow DOF, i took about 300 pictures trying to hit the focus on a bubble.

I really like how this turned out. I was excited about it the minute I saw the result in the viewfinder.

This is by far the best product type shot I have produced thus far.

This was one of my favorites and finished quite well

This one I really liked how it came out and while it finished poorly the comments made it worth while and I just liked how it all came together.

This one was fun, just trying to get the reflection and lighting done right.

I liked this one because I was fooling around with double exposures and "painting" with light.

Two of my favorites this year: both scored very well, though I was devastated the Whiterook image missed the DPC home page, 'cuz it would have been wonderful for my friend Steven to have a spot there for a week :-)

This was such a lucky shot. I loved it right away.

I suppose it's weird when you are excited about your own art - what can I say - I love this.

A completely wonderful experience and a pleasing outcome to me.

This one taught me a lot about photography.

This one just keeps growing on me.

I've always been a Muppets fan. Didn't have any good and doable ideas for this challenge, but it just took a walk down the video aisle in Walmart to find inspiration.

Fixed in One Determined Flash

This is the shot from 2010 most likely to end up on my wall.

spin

I just adore this shot. The kid in the photo is jeger's son Nico. Nico is a really fun kid to have around, and I was able to get him spinning in the light at Union Station Toronto as jeger was shooting his blue ribbon shot for this same challenge (In the style of Nixter). I was really pleased that my friend an I were able to finish One-Two in that challenge.

Love the DOF with this....it comes to mind often

I'm not good with B&W - but I really like how this one turned out...

I felt very fortunate to stumble on a good photo during the posthumous challenge. As many of you know, I am an utterly inconsistent photographer.

wow, what the hell is this?

two accidents, one during exposure, and one while processing, make up my two favorites this year.

This picture has opened up more opportunity than any other I've taken. I also love it because it was a case of being in the right place at the right time.
Just love the deadpan expression of Caden. Totally spontaneous and just made the picture.

EDIT: Aww, crumb. I didn't see it was supposed to be from this year. OK, I'll change.

Oops. I missed that as well. Got to change one of mine that was from '09.

2010 was my year to be a photographer again. So I made a effort to enter every month at least once.

I have a lot of favorites, and some I never entered as a challenge, though none have done very well and I'm still without a 6 on my profile, hopefully 2011?

Anyway if I had to single 2 out.

Because this is a view you can't normally get of this area, it's technically part of the salt flats, and most of the time it's white with salt covering the sand. But this was a rare glimpse of the desert thawing out from winter, and I really enjoyed getting this shot of it. (I'm making plans to try to catch more desert thawing this spring).

This would be my 2nd choice, or maybe my first choice, hard call really. Rarely do I go to the zoo and have any animal out and about, but when they are out, rarely do you find your self in the right place at the right time to get a shot like this. I was sure this was going to be my first 6 on this site, but in the end I still love this shot. I used looser crop of this same photo in the Utah State fair, which I got 3rd place for animal in captivity.

Fun thread! Tough to choose two - this was the year I've learned the most, and so many of my images were "firsts".

I was SO disappointed with how this image did. It was one of my first "craftsy" efforts, and I thought it turned out remarkably well, especially the dof and the story. Creating it was far more difficult than shooting it (made me realize Anastasia Elias has the patience of a GOD), but getting the lighting right was also tricky.

And this one because it's when I realized that I really, really, REALLY love portraiture. Also a sentimental frustration favorite as I wasn't able to enter it in the challenge where it belonged because I'd shot it a couple of hours BEFORE the challenge was announced
