The results of the 'reflections without mirrors V' challenge have been recalculated, due to the disqualification of the former 4th place image for using illegal layer blending modes. Congrats to our new honorable mentions!

I am really devastated by this but at the same time really sorry for not making 100 % sure of what i am allowed to do. I did check the basic rules and in reading the rule about filters and gausian blur I immediatly went and used it but in using a duplicate layer and going again through the rules bump my head reminded of only adjustment layer to be used.

I believe in working by the rules and appologise to all my fellow dpc members for this mistake. It is not in line with the spirit with which I partake in these challenges It's my own stupidity. At no point in time was I trying to get my foot ahead of the starting line on purpose. I have made so many edits on this photo and did some advanced editing on other copies which I made sure was not entered..never even thinking that in my duplicate layer with gausian blur I was breaking the rules.
Congratulations to the new HM from my side as well.

use filters or stand-alone utilities designed to preserve image integrity (such as Neat Image, Unsharp Mask, Dust & Scratches, and color correction tools). These filters must be applied uniformly to the entire image, and must not be used in such a way that their use becomes a feature. No “effects” filters may be applied to your image, with the exception of Noise and Gaussian Blur.
This is where I thought like my 4 year old son...one track mind.

You're being way too hard on yourself. Everyone has brain freezes at times. You have certainly been validated enough for us to know that you follow the rules.

It's a lovely image. :)

Oh no! So sorry about the DQ. But it's still a fabulous image.

Just a technicality and if it had been an advanced editing challenge, it would have been just fine. Rules is rules, though. Still a wonderful photo to be proud of.

Condolences on the dq. ...Incidentally, there are a bunch of dq's in this challenge that are puzzling - can't imagine why validation would even have been requested for them.

I noticed that as well.

RianBotes, don't sweat it.

That made me curious, as well...

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. It is a beautiful shot and was well deserving of it's placement.

As ek ooit 'n diskwalifikasie kry, skaam ek my dood. O nee wag, ek't al twee. Nog steeds baie mooi foto, maar ek weet 'n ou voel nie te lekker nie.
