"Point of Impact"
Position yourself in front of a rapidly moving object, such as a car, tractor trailer or intercity express train, timing the shutter release to the moment said object hits your lens. Minimal editing rules.

"Large Explosion Macro" Extra points for plastic explosives.
"Hot Pixels" Take lens off, lift mirror, pack mirror box with match heads, light the match heads, quickly replace lens on camera and trip the shutter.

A shoehorn challenge. You shoot for it during a one-week window and then find out what the challenge actually is at rollover. You've then got another week to edit and submit something shot the previous week that would fit that challenge description (or at least appear to try to).

I proposed an even more wicked version of this a couple years ago, I think I called it "Roulette" but I can't find it. My idea was that the challenge title and description would only be posted when voting started, after all the entries were in, so it would be a complete crapshoot whether you met the challenge or not. In theory, the most generic "good" image ought to have the best chance, but would always get beaten by a luck-of-the-draw "good" image that happened to nail the unknown topic...

I like your idea a lot, but I'm still partial to mine, as instead of just rolling the dice, you'd be out trying to shoot as diverse a set of subjects/themes as possible while using a variety of techniques. Instead of just taking your best shot and hoping it fits the challenge, you'd have to stretch your creativity in all directions. And then comes the editing part after the actual theme is announced. I think it's got a lot of potential. Certainly advanced editing.

Somewhere in the middle I too suggested a similar idea..

The "DNMC" challenge came pretty close to this, except for not actually having a challenge subject before the submission deadline.

"Headbutt Masters"

Position your camera on a desk, lens face-up. Whilst in burst mode, repeatedly headbutt the lens. Try to time your butts per second so they're in synch with your camera's fps.

"Procrastination Free Study Challenge" .
Special rules; Challenge entries must be shot within 15 minutes of the deadline.
Submission deadline will be 12:30 PM, in your local time zone so that everyone will have daylight for shooting, and images can be shot, processed, and submitted during lunch break.
Expert editing.

well then, your turd will be a shoe-in for the... blue...?
hmm, maybe they should switch around the ribbon colors for this one.
and the challenge title can be, "what can brown do for you"

Oh, do you "go"? Eh? Eh? Eh? Know what I mean? ... A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat, eh?
