Landscapes - You can hang a huge print on the wall or try to sell them as prints.. and I am sure William and other alike over here do sell their beautiful work!

But Portraits? What do you do with them?

Recently I started shooting with a meetup group locally and I am getting a great opportunity to shoot some beautiful models and learn a lot about lighting, poses, makeup, wardrobe and the whole 9 yards. I do value the experience and being able to build my portfolio is great - did I mention I am loving it! But I do ask myself what more can I do with these pictures?

Any ideas?

Some from a recent shoot

haha.. I do that too - freestudy / any other challenge that it would have fit remotely :)
All of them were taken out of challenge dates - so that didn't work out!

if you get model releases, you can license them.

I do have model releases. What does it mean to license them? Stock websites?

If I had such portraits and MRs, the first I'd do was offering them to Getty (or at least Alamy)

We use them on our website and back up the files for future use as well as submit them to stock agencies. If there ever comes a time when you open a studio they make great prints and canvases to put up in the studio. We do most of ours in canvas, we have sizes from 8x10 to our largest that the hubby won from a canvas company which is like 5 feet by 4 feet or something like that. Portraits can also be saved for use in books. Many photogs publish portrait books, I have a series that I've been working on for 3 years for a book.

If they score below 7 I delete them, secure erase the hard drive, demolish it with a sledgehammer and throw it in the dumpster outside McDonalds.

I have some magnetic frames on my cabinet at work and I rotate my gallery every week or so. Once in a while someone stops and tells me I must have a really good camera. I also use my photos as demo prints when someone asks for print samples from our color printers.

@Oliver - Thanks for the info!

Getty - I can't even figure out how to register with them as a photographer planning to sell work ..
Alamy seems like an option, will try that!
If Alamy fails - microstock website I am approved for is dreamstime - I don't have much there either!

@Angie - Thank you for the advice! A studio - well for now its a dream :-)
