There are quite a few cool pics in this challenge. I wasn't impressed with the pictures in the last 4:00 challenge. The early birds in this one did a good job.
I'm at 7.2 after 14 votes. I've never been this high. |

| I guess I'm a little stingy with the tens. I only gave out two. One was just because it made me laugh. There were a good percentage of black and whites. I've never considered doing a black and white at night. I guess that would be a good solution for the nasty sodium colored lights... I usually like the colors that one gets at night though. |

Considering I came home, rolled back into bed convinced I didn't have anything worth entering because my planned shot didn't work out, I'm glad I got around to looking at the photos and editing a couple at the last moment! |

Oh well, I don't think DP is good for my confidence.
And I think I'm becoming a worse photographer!
Too much physical pain in my daily life for these emotionally crushing scores too.
Think this is my last attempt.
My PB was my first entry - before I was even trying to fulfill a challenge.

Dude, everyone's personal best was their first entry*. Don't throw it in. Have fun with it. Pick up tricks that you like, improve what you want, and ignore anything that might discourage you. I gave your last shot a 7 and loved it.

This place takes some time to get used to......shoot for yourself, not the scores. Concentrate on getting the shot that you want to convey the message you want to get across. The scores will come in time. If you get fixated on scores, you will constanly be disappointed. I know that seems weird, but the whole reason you're here is to learn, develop your skills, and beocme a part of an extraordinarily diverse and talented community. If you understand that, you'll make friends and improve over time and start to really enjoy your time here. We all sucked at one point or another....8~)

wow! Awesome challenge! The last few challenges have had some good stuff, but the photos didn't really excite my. I think these are great! I'm voting later, but I thought it was a wonderful batch of photos!
I'm also very pleased this morning. It was at 5.7 earlier, which is where I expected it to end up -- though I really like the picture. Now it's at:

I wouldn't say that I voted hard against the ones that merely qualify by EXIF data, but conveying the sense of the darkness before the light was what I was looking for in the entries.....

I just scrolled through without voting. There are a few good images in there, but I came away amazed at how many bad (in my opinion) photos were in there. |

Last night before I went to bed I was at 7.78. It seems like the first night voters are always a little more critical and I took a beating.... I've never droped by a point before, but then again I've never had a score over 6.5 with over 10 votes before.

What bites though is the following...
1. A score of 6.8 should get a ribbon in a contest with 42 contestants... I think I will be lucky to come in 5th place. Darn you early risers!!!!
2. I have a feeling that one of the ribon takers will be disqualified for not submitting a photo that was taken between 4:00 and 5:00. They will still occupy the front page for a couple of days.
What is great though... This will probably be a personal best!!! I guess it was worth being groggy all day.
