Hi People, due to a new job I missed a couple of challenges. How would these portraits have scored in the portrait challenge? Thanks for your input.

No comments on Portrait III and V, other than I like them, and I probably would have given them a 7 and 8, respectively.

Portrait IV I may have only given a 5, because although the composition is nice, the fact that her hair blends in with the background bugs me for some reason. There needs to be more contrast there.

Thanks for the comment James. With IV I will try to work on the hair and the background. I agree with you.

I like them.

Oddly enough, the one I have the most issue with is the one I like the best -- on 'V' the hair looks like it has been desaturated in the background. It looks almost like the image was taken in from of another (greyscale) image. It gives wonderful seperation of the black hair from the black background, but it looks rather odd.

True, I had a blue background and desaturated that, and I liked the feel. Your eye is right and the "smokey" perception was done on purpose.
