This should be a fun one since it's been awhile. I have to remember how to do it in basic editing. LOL

just 'invert image' usually :-) or in camera sometimes there is a negative option for taking the photo! :-)

I got an entry in earlier tonight. This was a really neat challenge to work on, as it made me really think hard about colors and their brightness. My camera doesn't do negatives (at least I haven't found it), and I had to convert in PP, so I tried to convert colors in my head to get a sense of what to expect for various potential subjects. That was a neat exercise.

Good luck with your entry!! I'm going to have to re-read the basic rules, justto make sure I do this legally!

Negative images have always been legal in basic.

Good luck with yours, too! I'm really looking forward to seeing the entries. I'm pretty pleased with my own entry, but my images (so far) tend to rate about the middle of the pack, so I'm expecting a lot of really cool looking stuff. :)

Thanks! I have to say in all my years of shooting, I've never created a negative image, so mine is totally a crapshoot!!

"In picasa select the photo ..right click > open with > MS Paint...... from Paint's tool bar click on Image > invert colours"

That's all I can find. I'm not sure if DPP allows creating a negative image or not.

The current version of DPP doesn't let you create a negative. I used the free program "IrfanView" to do that for my entry.

I'm in. I had several to choose from but I think I chose the one that works best inverted. Will find out soon enough. No clue as to how this will score as it is my first inverted shot.

I'm so excited!! I shot for a good portion of the afternoon, and not a single one of them worked out. In desperation, I went through pictures I took this week, turning everything negative. A shot, that was incredibly dull, that I just hadn't trashed yet, turned out awesome!! I don't have any clue how it will do in the challenge, but I think it's absolutely wonderful, and I just love it.

What fun!

Good luck and good fun all.

This is my first challenge. I have uploaded an entry but I am not sure if it is what's expected.

By 'a negative that works' I wasn't sure if it means the colours have to look normal or if it just has to look interesting.

My colours don't look normal but I find them an interesting contrast to what is otherwise a very dull photograph.

Sounds like you're on the right track :) There's some really superb stuff up there (voting is now open).

I really liked mine -- I thought it was so cool.

obviously, people don't think it works well as a negative. :(

Apparently I'm a 5.5 shooter - got two images in voting at 5.5!

That makes me a 4.9 shooter! Both my shots are enjoying the murky depths. And i actually thought i had a DPC friendly one with one of them. Shows what i know!
