Hadn't seen that. Love it! Although I wonder if a lot of people do stuff like that if we won't end up with a new species of super-squirrel. ;-)

This was featured on a show on Animal Planet. Apparently the guy was taking great lengths to keep the squirrel out of the bird feeder to no avail. So he decided to make an obstacle course and see how long it took the squirrel to beat it. It wasn't long if I recall correctly.

Bahaha, that's awesome! It needs some flaming obstackles, though.

Great video.
I had a bird feeder that stuck in the ground, It was about 6' tall and made of thin wrought iron. The squirrels would somehow climb up this thing. So to deter them I greased the stem. It was funny to watch as they would try to climb and keep sliding down. They finally wore off the grease and made it to the top. I then built a cone to go around the stem to keep them from climbing. So the little tenacious buggers started using the bamboo along the fence next door as a pole vault and flung themselves at it. Sometimes they made it, sometimes not. But I tip my hat to them for working so hard. The ungrateful birds dropped at least half the seeds I put out.

I read a book about squirrels, and there isn't much that you can do to prevent them from getting into a bird feeder if they want the food. Some designs work better than others, but they are persistent and will find a way to the food eventually.
