I took this picture this weekend. I don't know how to do the thumbnail thing but I would appreciate any feedback from anyone who is willing to take the time.

' . substr('//mishappa.image.pbase.com/u47/dadas115/small/30618802.IMG_0046640.jpg', strrpos('//mishappa.image.pbase.com/u47/dadas115/small/30618802.IMG_0046640.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

Thanks,

Greg

Awesome shot. The foreground foliage is slightly distracting, though it would be even more so if it weren't a similar tone as the gator (croc ?). The DOF is almost perfect, though having his snout in focus might improve the shot.

I wonder what a head on shot of this critter would look like? Good work.

I like that shot.
For that thumbnails, I don't think you can display thumbnails unless you upload to the same space. If you upload your image and get the ID of your image you can use the right most icon and embed a thumbnail with the message by supplying the ID.

edit: typo

Just copy and paste the link into the area that allows you to "insert image" At least that is what i do. May not always work.

I guess I can't make a thumbnail because I am not a member. Anyone else care to comment?

Thanks to all those who took the time.

Greg,

This is a very good shot. With shallow DOF having the eyes in focus like you have done always makes the best shot.

BTW, That whole gallery of images you took is nice. You had a great weekend. Those pictures are terrific.

I am not a member either..but i have pictures on my website and i just copy and paste the url that the picture is on. and click on the button "insert image" next to the "i" button when you are making a message. Who knows..maybe dpchallenge doesn't reconize it. Just a help..

Maybe dpchallenge just doesn't like pbase?

The ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/forum/b-thumb.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/forum/b-thumb.gif', '/') + 1) . ' converts images that are contain in a DPC portfolio. If you have a previous image from a challenge you can use it to make a clickable thumbnail otherwise try this tutorial.

Awesome colors. Very detailed. I know some may say the plants are distracting but I think it adds to the photo. Yah it would be better and perfect if it didn't have the plants, but is life really perfect? Just a thought. I like it.

The alligator (croc, can never get them straight) is blue. At least on my monitor and there is a big cattail cutting it in half. I would also suggest that if the DOF was opened just a bit more you would get the full head in focus and not miss the tip of his/her nose. DOF is 1/3 in front of the focusing point and 2/3 behind. I think if you would have moved a bit forward on the FP you might have gotten a better DOF range.

Just my thoughts.

I got to looking through your photos and I really like some of them. My boys would love it down there...all the cool reptiles.

This is one of my favorites.

I am glad Soni put up some more images of yours. They are blue also. Not sure what is causing it. But your blacks are all truning blue. I took one image (turtle) and using selective color and the 'cyans' I turned the blue down and the black up and it neutraled all the blacks up really nicely. Gonna try it on the aligator now. I think it's a white balance issue or just harsh lighting, not sure, but real fixable... Just a follow up... Dave

You do it like this:

' . substr('//www.pbase.com/image/30618802/small.jpg', strrpos('//www.pbase.com/image/30618802/small.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

Use the 'world' icon, and put in
//www.pbase.com/image/30618802 for the full URL.

For the 'text' of the link, put in
[ img ] //www.pbase.com/image/30618802/small.jpg [/ img ]
without the spacing.

This has happened to me when my white balance was set wrong.

What did you have your white balance set to?

Thanks for all the helpful comments. The problem was that I had changed monitors over the past couple of days and PS had the old monitor profile loaded causing everything to have a blue case. The last few images in the gallery should be fixed now. I will go back and fix the rest tonight.

Thanks Gordon, that thing has been frustrating me for a long time now. Let me see if I have figured it out now.

This one should not have the blue cast:

' . substr('//image.pbase.com/u47/dadas115/small/30723109.IMG_9385640.jpg', strrpos('//image.pbase.com/u47/dadas115/small/30723109.IMG_9385640.jpg', '/') + 1) . '
