I'm trying to make a firefox plugin which display the scores in the status bar (bottom left).
The score should be updated automatically with a customizable delay.
Total discretion to watch the scores at work ;)

Would you use this plugin?

It's done ... and released here :
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/223361/

Probably not... Firefox is yesterday's news... Chrome is the browser of the gods.

Keep the trolls for the votes please :D
I'm on firefox plugins at work, I just want to do something for the dpc community ;)

Edit ... but it should be easy to do one for chrome when it's done for firefox.

I still use firefox, and I'd probably use the plugin. However, what would I do with the update button, then?

Nah, Chrome is still small scale in it's market share, and Firefox 4 (currently in Beta) will re-affirm itself as the main contender to IE's crown.

It will be possible to disable the automatic update and use the update button of the status bar ... :D

Great idea, but - in the spirit of DPC (and to keep Langdon happy), you might consider restricting it's use to members only (just parse the profile page for status).

Furthermore, please contact Langdon to make sure it doesn't affect site performance and to get permission. Even if it is "just a little" bit of data being used, it would still be the polite thing to do, I would think.

I dont use firefox anymore, unless testing a website out. I use chrome. It has some issues like every other browser but I think its great. If it isnt available for Chrome, I might have to use firefox during challenges.

Also, you might consider contacting NiallOTuama as he can give you most of what you'll need in regard to the backend of this (and perhaps you can collaborate on something in the future too)..

I'll ask permission to Langdon for diffusion and limit the level of datas processed. About the limitation for members, it's a problem because it's open source so everyone could break the lock.

If they're good enough to remove the lock, then they could write their own bypass, so that's no reason not to restrict the access.. I would still recommend the members only limitation (otherwise you're potentially circumventing one of the encouragements for member sign-up.. - or at least that's my take on it. Remember, without members DPC wouldn't exist at all...)

Then again, ask Langdon on that point as well, for all I know, he may not care at all if it's open to everyone, and if that's the case, then the more the merrier!

there was some discussion of an app for droid/iphone. I would be much more enthusiastic about an app for my droid that just showed my score without trying to navigate to the site.

On my iPhone, I created a Bookmark on my Home screen will zoomed in on the score panel. So, everytime I click on the icon, it automagically goes to my score. Yes, it still has to load the entire front page, but I don't have to zoom.
