Yet another (not surprising) accomplishment for Joey Lawrence. The title of the documentary is "Faces of a Vanishing World". Read the details here.

Congratulations Joey !!!

Thanks for the heads-up on the documentary - now if I can just remember to tune in to Ovation on Sept 27!

It is amazing (but not surprising) how far he's gone in just a few years. I bought his first DVD (the one that featured you doing the grungy effect with the chewed tobacco) just 4 years ago. At that time he was 16, still using an Olympus point and shoot but already producing shots such as this:

Yuck, pretend chewing tobacco. It was really coffee with some napkins stuffed in my mouth for effect, hehe. IMO, that intro was the best work Joey will EVER do. ;-)

It's not a typo, it's a phonetic rendering of current street slang. You sometimes see it as "beyotch" also.

Oh yea, I have to figure out if I get that station on Bell Expressview satellite... Anybody know a number? I find it so annoying that there are about a gazillion channels.

I just searched for "Faces". It's called "Faces of a vanishing world".

Very cool... I beyotched my DVR, or whatever I was supposed to do to it. It's on Channel 274 if you have DirecTV (10 p.m. Monday).

Just got done watching this on my beyotched DVR. Very cool show! The premise was that he had taken shots of all of these tribe members in Ethiopia, and then went back a year later to present prints to them. This is something that is rarely, if ever, done by other photographers.

It was very interesting to see the reactions from the tribe members... their reactions ranged from "shocked and confused," to elated.

Anyway... very nicely done, and congrats to Joey for all his amazing work.

The 'shocked and confused' was when he gave them the invoice.

I bought the DVD. Hopefully I'll be one of the first 500 and it'll be signed, "To Slippy, I owe everything to your talented and guidance."
