OMG I have been away a few days so didnt know about your accident Judi.
Reading about your progress is great, I get the impression you are one of lifes fighters ;) so I have every faith that you will continue the improvement.
I cant choose a favorite pic of yours because you are one of the people on here whos work as a whole I love, if I can ever be half as good a photographer as you are I will be happy. Your landscapes, portraits & horse shots are inspiring. One of my recents faves of yours is this - I just love your quirkyness.

You are a strong, courageous and intelligent woman with a roadblock in her way. You're chipping away at it and it will yield. Love your self portraits...confident and powerful. God bless.

I feel I am improving each day. I can use my hand more. Memories are still scattered and my short term memory plays games with me....so frustrating. but the best news of all is i worked out if i can mouth the words, why cant i breathe through the,m. So i did and it works. i can whisper. but i sat outside lastnight by myself practising the alphabet...it was slow going. and so i tried just saying words but nothing would come out...i got so upset and scared. i thought there has to be a way around this..and that is how i tried breathing through the words. my voice box still works i think. i know i can grunt...but just cant get it to time with the words.

That's just speech therapy issues, it will come, don't worry. The key thing here is this post is MUCH more articulate, so the brain is mending. You GO girl! Get well ASAP so we can start bugging each other again, OK?

Judi, that just truly brought tears to my eyes. Tears of happiness, that you are so rapidly on the mend. But your body must mend itself first, which it sounds like it's doing in spades already. Then it'll concentrate on the fine tuning like speech. That and speech therapy will come and help bring back the Judi we all know and love.

Hi Judi, not sure if you remember me, but, like, I lent you a 5Dmk2 and some lenses.. well, you know, I need them back, so if you could get them over to me when you get a chance..

Like I said, you probably dont remember me lending them but I did.

Honest.

Judi, My wife's brother in law had brain surgery for cancer a couple of months ago. He was unable to speak one morning, and that's when they found that he had the cancer. After he came out of surgery and recovered for a few days, he still could not speak.
Within a couple of days, he started singing, though he still could not speak except for a couple of words, he could sing most of the songs that he wrote, and many songs by others that he had learned to play. The surgeon said that it was not that unusual.
There is a lot about this on Google, so here's the link for you if you want to check it out, and maybe ask your speech therapist or doctor what they think.
Maybe you can sing your way out of this : )

Google search; brain damage and singing

In any case, your typing and thought structure seems to be improving rapidly. I'm happy for you about that!

ETA, This is one of the better articles about it;
BBC News article

You know, every once in a while (maybe more often than that) the various people of DPC make me smile/cry. This is one of these days.

Hang in there girl, whoever is behind The Hat is a complete sweetheart. And no, I don't know who it is either.

Next time you go riding wear the dam thing, will ya!

Gidday Judi... nice to see you are progressing well. You can rest assured that everyone in the DPC community is pulling for you and that a vast quantity of prayers are directed your way.

I am off to Brisbane Australia in the morning, and would have loved to visit you, but I understand you live quite some distance from there.

You keep plugging girl... Lord knows you have the right stuff, and I for one is looking forward to a full recovery. :O)

I come back from taking a year or so off DPC to find one of my favorite DPCers badly injured? I'm so sorry to hear that, Judi. My prayers are with you to get better quickly and get back all of your abilities (except for remembering the bad things). I have learned so much from you. I believe my first Favorite (admittedly before knowing what Expert Editing was) was this one. Hugs!

Judi - I figured I would share this song which has always helped me -
every time something went wrong from large to small in my life- i have heard this song and it gave me hope; it may or may not help you but- it comes to my mind as I think hopeful thoughts for your healing process emotionally & physically & mentally(memory wise)

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVF4r3fLBrU

here is to hoping things get easier, and brighter.

it is when things are at their worst that you discover the strength of love and ties in those around you Judi - you have a lot of support, a lot of people who love and care for you- just remember that as you go thru your journey of healing / you're never alone, even when you sit alone in a room- someones thoughts are with you.

you will get there hun- it is normal to be scared of the unkonwn; angry at the injustice of it all; and sad/upset/irritated/frustrated about any number of things- just stay determined- and it will all fall into place /

are you using any hand-signs when you have difficulty speaking? its not easy when words are trapped in your thoughts and screaming to be let out - just keep working at it hun, don't give up, and know that many many people are thinking positive thoughts for you in hopes that you will recover fully and soon-- xoxo
