I took some pictures of my niece yesterday (casual senior portraits). We were out in a local park at the worst time of day (about 11am) and the sun was brutal. I've got about 20 nice shots that she likes, but there are two that she likes but need some editing help to be acceptable. If anyone is willing to help a rookie out, :) please PM me and I will e-mail you the pictures. Thanks so much!

Can I post them here if I'm not a registered member? If so, how do I do that?

Post them to a public place, like flickr, then post a link.

psalm14515 doesn't have anything available to you.

You have to make them public :)

Send em over, I can work my magic with Photoshop CS4! :D

I didn't crop because the photo I was working with was small, but I would probably crop both of these a bit tighter. Here are my attempts.

If you have any questions let me know! :-)

Send them to matt at mattophotography dot com and I'll edit them when I get home in about an hour.

A few quick edits. A couple of comments one is just a touch soft on her face, the other the cut off hand really bothers me. I have full size edits if you want them I can e-mail them back to you.

Ironic that it was Blind_squirrel who noticed the wet stains on the girl's blouse and remove them.

ETA: Ok, senor_kasper also removed them but his username offers no comedic value.

Yes! I would like you to e-mail me the edits - especially the bench pictures. I like the way you changed the colors on that one. It cuts down dramatically on the sunspots/shadows.

And your comments are very helpful - I'm FAR from a professional and did this shoot more for my practice than for her to get tons of pictures (surprisingly, we did get a few nice ones). I really need the critique on things like poses and frame so I can improve. We are going to take more pictures at the end of the month, hopefully at a better time of day. Thanks again!

Funny! And that was what I was looking for on that edit. I probably should have posted it in the comments here. I did put it in the caption on Flickr. When I tried to retouch it on my computer, it looked terrible.

Everyone did such a great job on these edits. I appreciate all the help. It is amazing how many ways you can change a picture to make it look different/better. You guys rock! Thanks so much!

I will send them to you tonight when I get back. I am out today. And as far as editing out the wet places. I can do that, but honestly I only spend that type of time on clients photos, won't even do it for proofs, I just put a note that it will get edited out.
