Just got back from the company picnic. I took over 2000 pictures. I've got to get a smaller memory card...

Ha! I go to birthday parties (seems like every weekend) with a 2GB card (unless it's my own kid's party!).

LOL I have a 16 GB and i don't think I have ever came close to filling it... the close was 4th of July when I had it literally shooting one after another...

Probably for some. But, I've got about 10,000 dance performance pictures to sort through, and God knows how many shots for a local nature preserve. I love taking pictures, but sorting through massive numbers of them not so much... ;-p

8 gig is as high as I'll go...

My K100D will only take a 2g. Max in RAW is about 185. Drop 'er down to jpeg though and they're good for about 500. And that's too many!

See? This is what happens when we stop shooting film. Instead of trying our best to get the perfect shot on a few 36-exp. rolls, we shoot in continuous mode (or just keep mashing the shutter) 'til we fill up our gigantic memory card, and hope that we got a few great shots.

Today's solution: Image Review -> Delete. Works wonders, and only takes seconds. I'm constantly deleting photos in Image Review, because I really don't feel like sorting through tens of similar shots when I get home. Keep the best, screw the rest. I haven't filled a card up in ages.

What does it hurt to have a large mem card...This way you won't ever have the disappointment of running out of room and having an extra card

True enough, but the speed of the card is also a factor to be considered.

I like smaller cards, 4gb mostly. It takes only a second to swap cards and you don't have all your eggs in one basket in case of a failure. I'm not a "spray and pray" shooter either and I can't remember the last time I filled more than a couple cards on a shoot.

There's a firmware upgrade to use SDHC cards, which I believe will allow for 32gb cards.

Ha, what you'll need is a new shutter in short order.
