I make pennies with this, just enough to get out and have some fun. I've done 3 weddings this year. 2 were great, the other suffered from 'he's a friend so we'll just get the photos from him and not pay anything because we'll put the album together by ourself' syndrome....that's one long syndrome

Anyways, I'm wondering what people like to do with wedding covers. I'm using Blurb to design the album and giving them all the photos to do their own processing and album making. Do you guys usually take a photo from the day's shoot? Do you do something funky with a couple of photos? Do you use graphics of any kind? Care to share some of your album cover designs? Here are a couple of the pictures I got from the various weddings I did...a critique on them would be helpful....

Lovely shots, but I don't know what you're asking? You say you give them all the pictures and let them make their own book? Or do you do the book for them? I used a picture of the couple as the cover for the one wedding book that I did.

Yes...basically I'm asking what you use for covers. Do you use a photo from the album and ALSO in the album or do you exclude the photo on the cover?

Here is an example of a cover I did, it looks long because its folds over onto the inside cover of the book. The flower on the cover was her wedding flower...

I try to include elements from the wedding or couple in the design. Hence the flower and the color green since they are 100% Irish.

I can't help you at all, but your portraits are stunning! I especially love the shots from Wedding #3.

I used photo's from the wedding to aid in presenting the emotion of the day. When they look at the photo book, I want them to instantly have those memories of what that day was like for them. I also use a photo on the back cover as a way to leave them with something to go forward in their marriage with. Again, another emotional moment.

In the image above I show the front and back covers. On the front cover, I used the title as a way to introduce the story of their day - "Becoming Mr. & Mrs. Smith". A photo from their entrance after the ceremony was one of the high points of the night with a lot of excitement shown. On the back cover, I left them with a photo of them kissing which hopefully gave them an intimate moment to remember and it is something I would want them to feel as they look back together and remember the day... their intimacy as a married couple. Also the text on the back happened to be the title of the song they used for their first dance. Again, another emotional detail of their day for them to remember.

I hadn't even really considered this angle for the wedding I shot. Hmmmm..something to think about. I guess ultimately, it would be up to the couple, but I think maybe a kiss or something from the ceremony itself...

I really dig this high-key, white-on-light thing right here. Post some more of that ceremony, it looks interesting.
