The posthumous thread is getting a bit unwieldy, so to make it simpler, I'm starting a new thread for each challenge called "Winners Sans Ribbon" for your top choices that failed to win a ribbon (or top 10 if you prefer). By keeping it to a single thread per challenge, it should make thinks a little easier to manage. Like anything, it's up to the community if this takes off.

So for Mythical Creatures, here are my top picks that did not garner a ribbon. Nice work!

I agree about creating a post for each challenge, similar to the challenge outtakes threads.

I also totally agree with the three you posted.

Very understated but creative concept and aesthetically pleasing. My other 9 was the blue ribbon winner.

I like unwieldy, so I'll continue to post in the not yet dead dead thread. For me, it's not about winners without ribbons. Penny and Clive never had a chance, and they knew it when they hit submit. I admire that choice.

Nothing against the effort, but why recreate what already exists? And why repost what is posted elsewhere? Curiosity and all...

oops i see Deb - just beat me. I can appreciate the effort you are putting into this but I don't like the double-posting. I'm perfectly comfortable with my post where I left it.

As I said in the initial post, the larger thread is entirely too unwieldy and gets out of date very quickly. This honors what posthumous is doing in a more organized and easier to use manner.

As for the double posting, I just simply echoed the post here to help give the new style a fair chance and ensure that the honorees don't miss the post.

I have no intention to echo the posts all the time.

However, to be fair, I won't echo them anymore. I'll post my own honors in a new thread each challenge and if people want to use it, then so be it. But again, it's far more easier to keep them segregated by challenge instead of one mega thread.

I'm sure there will be people who appreciate this and will use it. However, as long as the posthumous thread exists, I probably will not. So I'm cool with you not echoing my posts.

Sometimes I am not able to get back into the site during the day and instead of scrolling thru all the threads, I like to go to my profile to see which ones have been active. So it's just easier for me to find the posthumous thread this way. Also, I don't normally vote in all the challenges and I like seeing the PH's for all in one thread. So I'll keep using it as long as it is active.

Removed the post, sorry to offend.

Worth restating in case you missed it.

And that makes it a winner in the scope of the thread and your honors...

That's all it was... I didn't miss it. Others have said they like the separate threads... Cannot please everyone.

But the posthumous one was dying... rarely any posts like there used to be.

Oh well... try to improve something and SLAP!

No one can stop you from creating these threads, they can only choose whether or not to post to them.

As for improving? Just because you think it's an improvement does not mean it is. The posthumous thread (which was actually started by De Sousa so you are trying to honor what he did, not Don) are somewhat of an institution around here and they accomplish alot of good. Not that you can't do the same but just because people don't jump on board does not mean you should take it as a slap in the face.

Likewise because a few think is ISN'T an improvement doesn't mean it's not one.

Actually, what they do accomplish is offer a viewpoint that can, and on many occasions, does vary a tad from the mainstream. Whether or not this variance does indeed accomplish the goal you ascribe to it is something that could be debated for a long time.
