I'm having to use a layer mask in an image where I need to erase some of it. However, it needs to be erased to a completely straight line. I can't get it to look right doing it freehand so can someone please tell me if it's possible to do it another way to get a straight edge?

Many thanks!

Click where you want the fist end of your straight line to be, then move the cursor to where you want the other end of the line to be and Shift+click

If you want a horizontal or vertical line - hold Shift while you erase

I'm not sure what exactly you're trying to do but it sounds like the polgyon lasso tool would work. Just create your selection using that or use the pen tool to create your straight line and then convert it to a selection in the Path's panel.

Thanks Yanko. It's was just to erase the edge of a layer mask in a straight line. Tomas got it spot on for me. Cheers.
