I got the same here. All it proves in my book is that individual is operating with very few keys on their keyboard;-) One number trolls can never take away is the views and comments - the higher the number means it is being looked at (and to some degree liked):-)

:( No comment on my pic...awwww!

I am slowly making my way through in the comments - problem is I sometimes leave dissertations in my commentary detailing the pros & cons. Hopefully I will hit upon yours;-)

j-Me - I am sorry you're sinking not tanking (j/k) and this challenge is a tough one so don't feel too too badly. Mine was 6 or 7 photos merged.. I forget but SC knows cause I had to send them all in :)

The last thing I have is a reputation as a photographer - unless you count them darn cow butts hehehe so I can't explain my crappy score other than to say I thought it was 5.8 material so poo on you people giving me 1 to 4's!

In a normal challenge, I would not give so many 1s for DNMC (if any anymore), but a lot of these were just blatant non-attempts IMO...

LOL Maggie....The "S.S. J-me" has sunk! *grin*

Ouch...sorry that you had to go through the validation process. I can't for the life of me figure out WHAT could be questioned in an Expert Edit mode except the infamous "Artwork" trap??? PITA to have to send in all of the photographs and I'm sure that for SC it's an even BIGGER PITA to have to go through it all. Must be their biggest nightmare! Likely why we have so few Expert Edit challenges LOL.

Before I continue, who(m?) are you accusing of being a twit? Just so the discussion doesn't head in the wrong direction.

Been doing some commenting and scoring and I don't think that I've seen quite this many "validations" in a LONG time. But, some pretty phenomenal pieces in there! I think the subject, itself, lends to a fantasy editing style look and that can really cause people to wonder if it's artwork or photos.

hmm, done. as i said before, i was really unimpressed with all the statues and such things entered here, but i couldnt make myself give them ones... so lots of 2s and 3s

In all reality...as simply a thought on a side note here, the statue entries are not at all out of line in ANY way! :) I had to do some thinking about this last night but, I think that's where voters are getting messed up while voting. BECAUSE it's "Expert Editing" a lot of voters *think* that unless it's a combined set of photos, it's not "worthy" when it these shots are meeting everything that is set out. They are not DNMC's at all. :) A lot of people use basic editing in an advanced challenge..so what?

I needed an adjustment in my thinking last night and I think that is what needs to happen while voting in this challenge on everyone's parts. If it's a good shot...it's a good shot! It doesn't matter HOW it was edited or done or taken. As long as it's a good shot of a mythical creature of some kind/form, whether collaged together or shot at one whole shot of a statue, it makes no difference. It's still a mythical creature. :)

And, NO...I didn't shoot a statue but, I'm thinking for what my score is right now...I SHOULD have! LOL ;0)

I honestly dont give a rats ass how they edited it or whether it has any editing at all, a statue is someone elses work(usually, i guess someone can be a photographer and another type of artist, im guessing most are actually) and therefore discredits the photographer IMO. Thats just me though, and i guess i could be a total hypocrit at times but it just seems a little silly for this type of challenge.

Just saw your post now in going back to look for another in this thread.

Your point of view is interesting.

Would you consider a landscape shot a shot of someone else's "artwork" because a landscape is simply a shot of Nature's "artwork". :)

I know that there was a lot more that could have been done with expert editing but, I think that we all have to understand that there ARE members out there who do NOT have editing skills to put together much fancier edited pieces. I had to keep that in mind when I first viewed the entries and saw the statue photos. I had to ask myself if their photos (as long as they matched the challenge subject) were any less "valid".

To think otherwise is to say that they are "invalid" because they didn't use multiple photos and create a "collage" effect.

Just my thinking here on the subject.

My apologies to all who have photographed statues as your entry but, I'm glad that there is no "rat's ass" being tossed LOL *WINK*

I agree. Just because merging photos is legal, doesn't mean one has to do it.

Score the image as a whole... not the effort in Post Processing. It's still a photography contest, right?

My Photoshop skills are lame at best.. That being said I am tickled pink at this score.. (hope it holds on) There are two pictures that I am dieing to see how they did them.. Is it proper to ask the photographer how they did their pix? I joined DP to better my eye and my shooting skills, and I must add that I really appreciate the suggestions that my commentors have left! BTY can you remove a photo that was in a contest from your profile? And if so how? I soo messed up and slapped a shot in rectangles that STUNK HORRIBLE.. When I had a good one for spheres.. Whacking self in head.. Any how I am so embarrased to have that bluck photo showing on my profile!!!

You can ask the photographer how a photo was created...and no, you can't remove an image from a challenge, except under extreme circumstances.

The more you do, the more you learn, and the better you will get such that will be bumped off your main profile spread. And don't feel too bad as that I am sure everyone has an image or two they regret...I know I do;-)

After seeing some of your work... I am thinking I'd take what ever you regretted .... LOL Thanks for the encouragement!!

Maybe there ought to be a page where all the Pro's have to post one stinker so mini me's can feel better about ourselves! :^)
